  1. You have my most sincere apologies!! I made it very clear that this was not an eBike event to RaceTec for the very reasons you stated. Our T&C's stated that eBikes are only permitted in 100km and 51km races. Our shortcoming was that it was not stated in BIG RED letters on the entry page : NO eBIKES. Imagine my horror when I was watching you guys come up Spes Bona and an eBike was about 2km ahead of 2nd place! I immediately phoned head of committee to handle this. We did not award 1st place to the "winner" which understandably ticked him off, although "legally" we were in the right due to our race rules. We will definitely address this next year. Sorry guys, we screwed up there!
  2. No official photos unfortunately. Social media your best bet. Sorry...
  3. Yep, I was removing Trilogy signage off the trail this morning and it was over 36C !!
  4. Yeah, that is what I want to aim for next year. Have a few farmers I need to go and sidle up to in the next few months 😬
  5. Sorry to hear that Colin...I heard of quite a few people with stomach issues doing the rounds over the last 2 weeks... We hope to see you at next year's race 🙏
  6. Hi glad you enjoyed it despite the punctures... So, on the Thursday before the race we have a group of teachers and parents called the "Sweep and Pray Team" go through ENTIRE route by car and do exactly what you suggest. They sweep the route and pray over the route for safety. About 12 to 15 of them drive their vehicles along the 100km route and wherever there is gravel, debris, etc they physically sweep it off the road. I am going to suggest that outside of the glass you never encountered gravel or stones on the route? Quite incredible!! We also have City of Cape Town sweep the town streets with a mechanical broom on Friday. However, Protea way is probably missed due it being a minor road compared to say Wellington road. Thus we do try our best to have clean roads for you guys. The other problem is that on Friday night in Durbanville a lot of revelers hit the streets and toss bottles out their car windows...we then race there on Saturday 🙇 I have noted your comment, however, and we will attempt to get the roads even better We actually try and encourage people to head back to the pavilion because space at the finish IS limited. That is the reason for no shade...sorry man. Yes, I think that bike stands is a fantastic suggestion and will endeavor to make that happen next year 🫡
  7. Only 31???
  8. Thanks Chris, I think you nailed it 👌
  9. Thanks for the feedback. The Trilogy is definitely aimed at gravel bikes but due to the large tar % we decided not to market it as gravel race this year. We may well do that next year. We believe the numbers will double next year. Route IS difficult to reduce tar and increase gravel without adding huge logistical complexity to our race. You may not realise this : our ENTIRE event is arranged and run by parents of school kids. Every marshal you see on race day plus us on the planning EXCO are volunteers who have day jobs. We put in 100s of hours each year. This is not a registered business, no professional race planners. Just a bunch of enthusiastic parents who are helping their school. This includes me! We will definitely review the route and see if we can extend it AND reduce the tar component. Watch this space 😁
  10. Paul, when you were on Spes Bona, did you see and hear the music coming from a white VW on the left? If so, that was my car and I was the one cheering you guys on like a madman 😁🫡
  11. Ja, I went on a route ride with Wesley yesterday and he explained the difficulty the transition is causing... we are the guinea pigs I guess....🙇
  12. Yes, I'm sure it will. I also did Winelands
  13. Chris, they are on FinishTime website (old racetec) but I have been in contact with them and they had some technical issues ☹️ so there may be a delay...apologies from us but out or hands
  14. Thankyou, sir 🫡. We will make next race even better. We'll aim for 99.9% next year 😁
  15. Yes, those potholes were a disaster!! Luckily we have a good connection at roads dept and when you mention "liability" and "race" in the same sentence they tend to move quickly 😆😆
  16. Last year our signage "Expect Delays" went up too late so we DID have a lot of agitated motorists that were NOT aware of the race. We learn each year how to make it better for everyone as best we can
  17. Love it!!!
  18. Yeah, we expect double the numbers next year after this years trial run. It definitely was a hit. Although we will probably cannibalize entries from the 100km.... we want more gravel bikes. Will probably advertise it as a gravel race next year.
  19. Yeah, it becomes difficult to manage 3 such diverse groups of riders. We had to hold the Trilogy guys back after 2 51km groups to ensure that the merge was not too bad....but we can only do so much....😁
  20. 🤣🤣🤣
  21. Is it possible to send the high resolution versions of these photos to operations@99er.co.za ? Thanks so much!
  22. Sadly, as head of ops, I can only control so much...wind is well, wind 🤣
  23. Morne, being a very keen cyclist myself, the Trilogy was my brainchild and the feedback has been beyond positive and it will become a signature event. Do it next year 💪 If I had my way we WOULD finish at the top like the old days but we do have logistics to take care of (ad well as some very weary cyclists cyclists 🥵) Thanks for supporting us and for your feedback 😁
  24. Hello I don't there is a single cyclist who has done 1 race previously that DOES NOT know that.... However, maybe we can inform them at the start (again!)😁
  25. I know it very well
