  1. we are suggesting people to park at the huge field on Bethanie street. Google it 🙂
  2. Parking is a challenge...(and not to make any excuses) BUT this is the first year at our new venue and we do foresee issues. we will learn from this year and improve. Park about 1km away from the venue and cycle in. If you live in Durbanville, cycle the whole way in!
  3. Our finish line is 200m further DOWN the road. We are expecting a seriously fast sprint finish as a result
  4. You can fetch someone else number. Just have a letter saying as much, with their ID number and signature on it
  5. More good news 😁👌 We have just received confirmation that our application for full road closure for Adderley/Koeberg roads all the way from Philadelphia road has been granted 😀 This is a first for any road event in Durbanville. Thus, the last 15km we get full use of both lanes right up to the finish. Praise the Lord 🙏
  6. Let me restate : number collection only. No new registrations will be accepted on race day
  7. Please pass the message on to your mates
  8. Yep... reconsidered....
  9. Good news 😁 We have decided to number collection AT THE EVENT Thanks to input from you guys.
  10. This is Cape Town....put on sunscreen before the race and then put on your raincoat. Sorted for the weather 😆
  11. Yep...that was the only incident we had on the trails. Happened at the very 1st A Frame. Going to have a marshal there this year
  12. in the same breath...we have a 2 medic quad bikes on standby....
  13. that is the idea, FUN! 🙂
  14. Yep, and that is the beauty of the Trilogy - Fast gravel bike on the tar and gravel, only to be beaten by a proper full-sus on the 13km of single track
  15. email me and I will assist nicholashaupt@gmail.com
  16. What he said 🙂 Yes, you are indeed on Klipheuwel trails. I especially chose this route for its ease of A-frame crossing and the route's fast flow with a mix of tight, non-technical single track sections and some wide "jeep track" sections which makes overtaking possible without being dangerous
  17. Hi That would be very difficult for us as organizers to control and get uniformity. Each race category is a different colour. The Trilogy has a different race board, etc. Also, this whole process is controlled by Racetec, not us. We are messagers delivering the message 😁 Lastly, remember the Cape Town Cycle Tour disaster when a professional organization like them tried to print race numbers on the day.....
  18. Yeah, I hear you. Logistics is a major problem. To be fair, every other race also only has 2 collection points. Durbie Dash, Tour de PPA. Winelands, etc So we have cater for the 2 major regions: Southern suburbs and Northern suburbs
  19. Entries close on the 29th. Seeding is then done and in theory you should have it 3 to 4 days later. Unfortunately this entire process is out of our control and is handled by RaceTec/Finish time.
  20. That's a great option if it was not connected to the even as a whole. We have to bring 4 different races to the same finish line and then marshal the riders back to the start venue.... Also, crossing RIGHT onto Malans from Adderly without full road closure is a trainwreck waiting to happen. There's a reason why 99% of road races go anti-clockwise : you never have to cross traffic. But, yes, we are always looking to improve. We will build on this year's experience for next year
  21. as stated, luckily this is now a thing of the past and thank the Lord we had no incidents!
  22. to be honest, this was becoming a problem for us - in a way glad we do not have to go through D'Urbanvale because of exactly what you described - the oncoming traffic and cyclists. The residents there hated us I think!
  23. Recall, while it may not have a named sponsor, we DO have a cash prize for our green jersey/intermediate sprint. In fact, we go as far as to have the Western Province Race Commissaires at the green line to make the call on the winner. We don't rely on uploads.
  24. We have one of the best safety records in the local racing scene (except that year of the Malans gravel fiasco 😂) We take safety extremely seriously but at the end of the day it is obviously up to how cyclist s behave that prevent/cause accidents. So, no accidents at those circles despite the speed and sheer number of cyclists coming through that area....
  25. Not that I have to justify/defend our route choices or the way the event is run BUT (and there it is....) we are also the only race (as far as I know) that offers an intermediate sprint prize and green jersey. It is something small, I know, but this how we do try to set ourselves apart from all the other races that use our northern suburbs roads. We used have the KOM jersey for Vissershok, also unique as far as I know.... Anyway, I am always open to constructive input to find ways to improve our event. I think is the 27th year we run the 99er event. Not bad for a bunch of school parents.... 😃
