  1. We got a permit at the park main office. Really smooth process.
  2. Well done Cape Diver! Very similar route to what we did a few months ago: https://leorust.com/2025/08/01/freezer-burn-4-days-bike-packing-in-the-tankwa/ Basically the route we did is opposite direction to yours (and the Munga Grit route). I have linked Strava files for each day and overnight info. There is also a Peter Slingsby map that has just been published by Tracks for Africa which I would definitely take along.
  3. I rode there quite a few years ago. There were trails on private farms. Sadly the farmers were not keen on opening this up to the public. Not sure if the situation has changed.
  4. The Monton store in Cape Town stocks the Restrap range. They have some top tube bags that can be bolted on.
  5. Is the Hawequa trail still rideable and the start easy to find? Are there specific opening hours? Thanks for the help
  6. Hiking on TM is mostly safe if you have good mountain sense and are prepared. Having said that it is always advisable to take a knowledgeable guide. This is so much more of an experience than just walking you to the top by the shortest possible route with lots of other people. Active Africa uses the best guides for a great experience. Otherwise Vertigo Adventures or Hike Table Mountain are good service providers. I have worked for all three and can recommend the experience. Shout if you need more info.
  7. Richard Schmidt is great. He is based in Milnerton
