  1. Ah - the decisions we have to make. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ sometimes. What to do !!
  2. I personally just use some Hot water with a little bit of sunlight soap and wipe off most of the sticky film off, and ride for a few times, then apply the wax lube. Then every 2nd week I , merely take a clean rag and grab the chain and run the crank in reverse and spin till all the old wax lube has been removed and then re-apply new lube, a drop per roller. Works for me.
  3. Part of my current dilemma is I am going to upgrade the entire rear wheel, and am split between going Micro Spline or Xd drive.
  4. The XO1 are expensive but will give you good Km’s. The x 2 I have used have both given me between 9000 and 10000 km. I changed them when the 0.5 check could be pushed through not merely drop in. I recycle them to my Single speed till 0.75 limit.
  5. I hear you. What cassette are you using.
  6. Thanks, was an interesting read. Would have thought Shimano XT and XTR would fall into the Premium category but if you compare with X01 and XX1 there is a huge gap. Just a pitty as I prefer the shift feel of Shimano but the longevity of the SRAM X01 chains… πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Suppose I will have to stick with the Xt shifter, derailleur and SRAM cassette and X01 chain.
  7. Maybe Shimano will make a chain one day which lasts as long as SRAM. Thanks for your input, suppose I should just stick with SRAM.
  8. Hi all , I have been through a fair amount of SRAM GX and X01 chains over the last few years and like most know the longevity of the XO1 is amazing. What have other cyclists experienced with Shimano Xt and Xtr chains in comparison to SRAM, besides the obvious price difference.
  9. Yes, I managed to get an update to the Kickr and I went with the Ant+ connection rather, as my house is full of other Bluetooth devices. Previously I was exercising very early morning but since load shedding was in my time spot this week, I opted to workout later in the afternoon , which resulted in the issues arising as the family was up and about. The Ant+ option at the moment seems to be the best option for my set up , as to get everyone to switch off their devices is a mission.
  10. @madmarc thanks I set it up using the Ant+ and seems to be behaving it’s self. Thanks again for your input.
  11. Thanks for your input. I do have an Ant+ sensor, I will give it a try and see if it helps. As it’s super annoying.
  12. Hi All. So I am new to the indoor trainer set up, specifically the Kicker 4 and ROUVY app set up. For the first month no issues. The last few rides ,I connect , start workout and after a few minutes the App looses connection to Kickr, ( as in the Watts shows as N/A) then it connects and I continue and then it disconnects and so on. Has anyone else had such issues. I have manually disconnected/removed the trainer, uninstalled the ROUVY App , re-installed the app and reconnected the kickr and no luck. I am connecting via Bluetooth Is there a possibility of another Bluetooth device in house causing interference ? Is it a Wi-Fi connection issues due to load shedding somewhere else, as when i connect I have power in house. Last night i did run a firmware update on the Kickr , so I need to see if that helps. Thanks.
  13. Hi Robert. Thats exactly what I meant. That section of chain over the link when using the chain checker when under a little pressure the 0.5 does pop in and it would start to wear on the cassette.
  14. Hi have always wondered, when using park measuring tool to check chain wear. To get the best results does one measure over the power link or not to estimate wear. I have a chain which is showing a little wear over power link but the rest of the chain is fine. Do I replace chain or not?
  15. Thanks... the one bearing feels a little rough when you turn it, otherwise it's still in tact. I reassembled it and tightened up the lock screw with a amount of torque which I have always used for all bikes. It spins and sounds as it should... just when out riding the noise comes and goes. There is no doubt that I will need to replace the freebody... being aluminum was wondering if it made them more vulnerable to cracking. Also something to consider is this free body is 5 years old..
  16. Anyone had a Hope pro4 free wheel body crack? What would cause it to crack, possibly to much torque on tightening the lock screw when replacing cassette.
  17. Just another thing that popped into my head whilst out riding... why is it only the 12 speed chains that require changing at 0.5 wear. A 10 speed can be replaced at .075,they are the same length between the links, sure it a little thinner but is that really going to make a difference? Or is it just about shifting accuracy.
  18. I agree the terrain and style of riding is going to influence your chains life span. I clean once a week, ride a 50/50 dirt and tar. Spinning on the steep climbs but ride the lower cogs on the flats- 36 ring up front with 11-50 cassette. Have currently ridden x2 chains, now on the 3rd fitted Saturday, GX and KMC 12speed got roughly the same kms on both 2200km Thus is when the gauge dropped through at 0.5. Suppose the test would be to get a XX1 chain and see what it does and not changing my current routine.
  19. I got mine from Hatfield cycles Pta.
  20. Will take a look, although it looks like, the how to fit a chain. I have seen Park tools video on how to use their chain gauge CC 3.2 to see if the chain is worn they also suggested the replace 12 speed chains at the 0.5 wear indicator.
  21. Silly question time... compatibility of using Xx1 chain on Sunrace cassette 11-50. Theoretically it shouldn't make a difference since I currently use their Gx chain on a Sunrace cassette with no problems.
  22. Thanks... just took the time to write down the actual mileage on this chain. It turns out I got this far 2253km. I will check out the option to go for a XX1 chain.. Cheers
  23. Hi all. I see a few related topics on this. Who else is replacing 12 speed chain when chain wear gauge is at 0.5, this is on a Park tool CC 3.2 gauge. -If I leave it to the 0.75 will it be too much wear to still run a new chain on the cassette? Only get like 1700km on the chain, 3months of usage which isn't much. Or is it better just to replace once it comes to the 0.5 and then possible 3 or possibly more chains runs on the same cassette?
