  1. Thanks Roul. Appreciate the help.
  2. I am based in Somerset West, and interested in a bike advertised by Bikemarket Pta. The info and photos they have shared looks promising. However, I was hoping to get someone in the area that can go and check out/have a look at the bike for me....with an unbiased buyer's eye. 😉 Please send me private message if you can/don't mind to assist a fellow hubber trying to make the move from a hardtail to a dual. Appreciated.
  3. Wow, thanks for the response/offer guys. Managed to find an old model (but unused) Thule 589 for a bargain, and just couldn't resist. Looks to be the old granddaddy of the Outride model. Some parts & bolts still in plastic!! The Scott MTB on the box gives it's age away a bit!! ????
  4. Hahaha, thanks for sharing sepia ????
  5. Will send you a PM Sywurm
  6. Hi all, Looking for a Holdfast Bike Carrier like this to mount on square bars roof rack. Seems they are not available anymore in the Retail World. ???? So if you upgrade to a Thule Pro Bike or similar, and have one of these collecting dust, PM me please ????
  7. Hi Koos, Thanks a lot for the feedback. I have seen those yellow/black ones -very nice. Interesting about the changed design, the ones you find in the R 15k-R20k are usually <2016. There is one available like this: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/za/anthem-x-29er-2015 Here are some pics. The guy bought it from mate(who bought it new) and it has seen minimal use. Asking R19.9k (asking R19k for it)
  8. Thanks!
  9. Morning all, Helping a friend to look for a new bike (well 2nd hand) but upgrade from his 26er Silverback. We do mostly XC style riding with a little bit of trail thrown in there, and a 20km commute in summer (too cold now). Need some opinions/guidance on what is a realistic 2nd hand price for a good condition 4-5yr old Anthem? Let's hypothesize that the bike is still in good condition with no damage to the frame besides minor wear from riding, and either (a) the bike is still stock standard as it was sold and just regularly/routinely serviced or (b) some upgrades were done (eg. changing the 2x10 to a 1x11) but the rest is still stock. Newly fitted tyres, cables and a recent suspension service it bearings etc. Thanks!
  10. any news on this. availability and pricing?
  11. Anybody know anything about when these will be available in SA?
  12. Great, thank you! That will def be helpful!
  13. I saw Overgaauw route too, and I can see why it might be more of an experience going up there. Will pitch both options to them and hear what they say. thanks!
  14. Yes, from the video I saw on Trailblazers website, Fish Eagle does seem like a very nice section! If we do light, we will do yellow too. The idea would be to do either light blue OR dark- don't think the legs and lungs will hold for both dark and light. I am aware that the Bottelary area is loads of hills and awesome views/scenery. But that is why I am asking, between the light blue and dark blue options, which is less climbing and more reward ST? And I agree, even hike-n-bike with awesome scenery is worth it! Also, what is the loop direction? Clockwise I suppose?
  15. Hi all, Myself and 2 friends want to give Bottelary trails a go this Saturday. Could anyone here please help me out with the Bottelary Hills Trails in Google Earth format? Or even better, a Strava ride that I can see the elevation per sections etc? I will be leading the ride, as I am the fitter of the three and quite longer in the game than the other two: - Rider A is new to the sport, not very fit but very eager. - Rider B is not so much a newbie and fitter (as he goes to gym 2-3 days a week and does some boxing too). I took them on Eden /Mont Marie this weekend and they enjoyed that a lot, asking for more ;-) The newbie is not yet fit at all, and not good with climbing, so I want to see if I can put together a 15-20km loop without, as enjoyable possible for the not so fit guys ;-) We though about starting from Overgaauw/Asara, as myself and Rider B stay in Somerset, and the rider A recently moved to Wijnlanden. Single track is no problem, and preferred over too much jeep track. See marking below on trail map for what I have in mind (two options, dark and light blue) and please let me know if this would be possible (i.e. loop direction etc, and difficulty ito climbing etc).
  16. Hi all, Interesting to read all of the comments, more so to read that the majority says:"Its going to be a thriller". I was going to enter the 30km, mainly because I was possibly going to do the CTCT the next weekend with couple of work colleagues. But I had to withdraw from the CTCT due to family responsibilities. Leaving me now with the decision: 30km vs 60km?? So, who is entering what?
  17. To those who know the tech and/or ride one of these slack hardtails. How does the steel frames (Cotic Solaris, Momsen Steel one, and Contraband etc) compare to an aluminium ones like the Slade? I don't want to open a big new debate, but in 5 bullets maybe the pros vs cons? and the difference in ride/feel?
  18. Oh do share please..... https://www.pivotcycles.com/en/bike-les-sl-1

  20. I know its still far ahead, but would like to hear who has done this and their feedback/comments? The route ? The spirit/atmosphere ? The general setup and organizing (i.e. tents etc) ?

  24. Hi, Anybody that has a used 34T narrow wide chainring lying around? I want to swop my 30T and give 34T a try for a couple of rides. Scared I buy 32T and then realize I should have bought a 34T (or or the otherway around).
  25. So Eddie, how are you finding the Thudbuster? Worthy investment?
