  1. I don't think frames and equipment is duty free, have imported a GPS, bike light recently and had to pay a clearance fee and 14% VAT on it. It was worth it, still saved a couple of grand on the whole lot, At least it's cheaper than the clothing.
  2. I would like to find out what the experience is wrt importing cycling clothing from Chain Reaction Cycles. I have imported a number of cycling gear from them, for the gear I had to pay a clearance fee and 14% VAT. I would like to order some shorts and shirts but is now worried about the import duties, I had to pay a 40% surcharge this morning on clothing that my wife imported, the customs then went and put a 14% VAT on the order amount plus the surcharge. If one did that to Assos shorts then it would cost more that what it s costing locally. Has anybody go experience in this regard?

    Lights

Not to my knowledge, but have a look at www.bikeradar.com their website covers almost anything, there should be a write up on this light. grumpy2009-09-21 07:48:02
  4. Campy is for the wanna bee's. all bling, little pling.. Typically cyclists who still think that the best bikes are still made in Italy. Shimano is not the best selling brand for nothing, but don't but the cheaper groupsets, go for a Ultegra at least.

    Lights

How far do they throw a spot? If it is less than 70 meters then it's only suitable for trail riding. The Light and Motion lights are really expensive, but you get the best light on the market. Motorists have flashed me, asking for dim..
  6. I have been unable to load more than one route on my Garmin 705 GPS, have to take a laptop with me if I go away for a few days, it would be nice to load a number of routes in the unit and then just select which route to ride. Loading routes onto the USB card also doesn't help, the unit can't read from the data card. Any idea's on how to overcome this problem?

    Lights

Cheap lights is looking for trouble, you can't see potholes or solid objects with poor lights, wait until you write off a carbon frame and two wheels in a pothole at >50km/h, not to mention the injuries. Follow the link to the Light & Motion website for an independant test on lumens. http://www.bikelights.com/images/test_data/2009_test_data_summary.pdf
