  1. We all need someone in our life who believes in us the way our Garmin race predictor believes in us.
  2. 4:30/km (22:30?) is quick, and you're only going to get faster with the consistent training and increased distance. Nice work.
  3. Agreed. 1650m altitude, 48m gain, road course with plenty of 90° corners and occasional traffic; that's a big time. I can only imagine what that would translate to on a flat course in Cape Town. I can't speak for Ridr's stats but, watching him, he does have a noticeably long, efficient gait.
  4. Thanks, Lexx. I matched my previous time on that course to the exact second but as someone said to me afterwards, “The good news is you’re not getting worse.”
  5. We need to start a new group for us over 40s. Runners with a "middle-aged" problem.
  6. I’ll also need to accept the fact that Edgar is no longer friends with me.
  7. Had a fun morning out. Missed my goal time by 35 seconds but gave what I had on the day. Was inspiring watching ridr go out at what I initially thought was a pace he'd pay for when he got to the hilly km in the middle but he stuck it the whole way and ran a 17:17. When you see other people doing it, it gives you a bit of confidence that it's possible to get quicker. Was good to meet you, man!
  8. I haven't hurled at the end of a 5km yet, so that'll be the goal.
  9. *sets Strava to private Not fair, man. You'll run a 17:50 when you're in 19:00 shape.
  10. Everybody's aiming for something different. I'm going for anything sub 18:20, though 18:10 will be the target, others are going for sub 19, sub 20, sub 21, all the way up to sub 25 and at least one guy is trying for a sub 28.
  11. It's 18:19 but that was way back in the time before the plague during 2019 Comrades Training so I'd like to get under 18 this year, starting by beating that PB. I've only ever done a mile hard in training but I did not like it at all. Not at all.
