  1. German myself so definitely not the issue ????. I think the biggest problem in general are assumptions. Mine was that I wouldn't crash before September, other people's would be that their LBS would have parts for the bikes, or that when you take it to the LBS they know how to service, wont scratch/damage, use correct parts and lubes. One difficult balance.
  2. Hi Hubbers, Got in a bit of a crash this weekend and managed to bend my rear derailleur hanger. Wondering if there is anyone that can help me out in sourcing a new one? If anyone has a spare that they are willing to sell to me please post here. I have ordered 5 more from Canyon(extreme i know ) although will only have them in hand mid-late September so in a bit of a pinch training and needing gears for the Jock Tour. Willing to pay postage and replacing ones should you not want to sell. It is a No.25 for the Canyon Aeroad CF SLX. It is a plated derailleur, two part, hanger and bending it is not a real option. Done it before although the hanger cracks from the stress. Not always straight after bending but during a ride some time after. Any help would be much appreciated. Any time off the bike in a state of emergency in my life
  3. Did you find it on this website? https://www.asgevents.co.za/BergeenDale/ This one shows a 93km route labeled 102km. ASG needs competition. With the rates they charge for their events they can definitely afford spending 4 min in uploading the right route. Makes you think if they even applied to use those roads.
  4. Do you know what route they are going to use this year. Sounds like the 2016 at 105.9km.
  5. Well it is somewhere between 90-110km... Hopefully.
  6. According to the ASG website your route is not correct, although that is not saying much. The ASG website is definitely not the best authority for ASG events. If you look at the asg posted route, it is 93km total. I think yours is maybe the 2015 route. Got a feeling it will probably be the 2015 route and they made the mistake.
  7. Get the Thule removable towbar. I have it now on my polo and looks great. Got it discounted to R4800.00
  8. Please advise if the route is 102km like 2015 or is it 93km as shown when following the route on the map provided. Seems as if a section for the 2015 route has been removed. The Ventersdorp section. Is this right?
  9. Bought a Canyon Aeroad Recently. Love it. My reason for buying is i wanted one. If you want a Canyon get it for that reason not the price. As to local bike shops. I would rather pay 10x more and buy the tool to do it myself anyway. I have never had a bike come back completely right after taking it to a shop. Iv even watched a bike shop use a hammer to hammer in a bearing instead of a press ( braking the replacement beating in the process) not to mention scratches on the frame striping bolts etc. (3 separate well known bike shops, 6 occasions). There is nothing you tube cant do better. As to the frame size. I was worried at first, although the online suggestion is spot on for me, 1.88m tall size L. The only problem would be the fine adjustment of the stem length if you want to be more stretched out. You cant change the integrated stem length nor buy a different integrated system with the bike. And the bike is low in front. If you cant touch your toes warmed up dont even think about getting this bike, at least till you can. I would say finger joints on the floor for a comfortable position. The bike is a definite incentive to do your stretches after every ride. Flexibility can b worked on! All the best
  10. Looks like a good race!. Anyone interested in joining a team PM me. got 3 other Elite category riders already in.
  11. Any Elite teams looking for an extra member? Situated in the JHB Pretoria area.
  12. Definitely plate it. Had mine done last year, plate taken out this year. Recovery is so much better with a plate.
  13. Thanks Uncleslow. Never tried it but just got some island tribe clear on your recomendation. Holding thumbs. Pulse- will definitly give Piz Buin a try if tge Island Tribe doesnt do the trick. Iv always had a problem with some products. Have the same problem with hand creams making hands clammy. I can avoid cream although with sunscreen its a bit tough. JAKKALS - do you not find more dripping sweat from the waterproof stuff? Feel like anything that says waterproof could be worse.
  14. After buying a new batch of SunLabs Dischem suncreen, Iv found that they have changed the formula and it now makes me sweat excessively, just like all the other brands and creams. It took me many tries to finally find one that works, going through nivea(the worst brand iv tried-spray,lotion and stick even the "sport"), TechniBlock(spray&lotion),eversun(stick) and SunLabs(lotion). So you can imagine my dispointment. I had to stop three times to get the sweat out of my glasses untill I just stopping to wash it out completely. I would like to ask if anyone has any advice and experience to which one i should try next. Please post your experiances with different brands.
  15. Hi hubbers, Going to be in Knysna in about 2 weeks for a wedding and thinking about taking my bike down. Has anyone had experience road cycling there, and any suggestions on fun safe routes? Hoping for good climbs that are safe to do solo. All suggestions welcomed although not the ones involving MTB as I have just sold mine .
