  1. I for one am gatvol of the way a certain committee member administers the Facebook page. He runs it like the Gestapo would run things, simply deleting valid questions that are asked by "dissidents" or anything he doesn't approve of. What are you hiding bud??!!
  2. I have both a Fox FIT 29er fork and a RockShox - the Fox has given me loads of grief (but the issues seem specific to the FIT one - not sure if that's what you're after) I also have both SRAM XX and XTR on my bikes - no comparison IMO - XTR all the way! No issues from them, whereas the SRAM drives me up the wall As far as brakes go, similar story. Don't like the feeling of the SRAM at all, Shimano is better but Formula is tops Truvativ Noir components are OK but there are lighter stuff out there for the same price Hope Arch combo - good choice. Personally like the DT Swiss hubs better, and depending on your weight and riding style the Crest rims are very solid but a bit lighter

    2 x 10 vs 3 x 10

My point exactly - c'mon Coenie you know I'm right!
  5. I am visiting the folks and need to get some hours in for the Epic. Any group rides I can join, or any suggestions on where to ride ( road or mtb)
  6. I am neww to road racing. Have a G seeding from mountainbiking and would like to improve this in the road races. I have never done a road race though, this weekend's tour de Worcester will be my first. Any advice on the best way to improve my seeding - just go till I puke from the start gun?
  7. Cool - probably too late but will pm him
  8. A few of us are doing the DC and are doing a ride tomorrow on the road bikes from Durbanville, via Stellies, ou Helshoogte, back through Fisantekraal Leaving from the Van Riebeeckshof centre tomorrow at 0730 - the same one where WE Bike is. Pace will be chilled, most guys are only starting the DC training now... PM me if you're interested
  9. I am building up a Niner EMD and this fork was recommended to me - supposed to be very plush. Given that I will be giving up my rear shock when I move to this bike I would like to get a really good front shock. Any views out there on this fork, and how it compares to Fox / RockShox?
  10. C'mon Chris - HTFU!!
  11. I would also like to know. Also, what group should you ideally be in to make 3h? I'm only starting at 0722 so figure I'm on my own if I try and break 3
  12. ...starts at 1900
  13. It's the ride with Willie Engelbrecht. We ride from his new WE Bike shop at the Spar shopping centre in Van Riebeekshof. Routes vary but is usually around 70kms long, either out to Stellenbosch or sometimes around Durbanville (Malanshoogte, Contermanskloof etc). Pace also varies from moderate to insane (for me at least). Did about 75km's last night at 27km/h average

  18. Stupid Question: What cage length should I be using on an Anthem 1 (doing mostly CC type riding and doing the Epic next year) and what does this influence? Also, what are people's views on std vs rapid rise RD's - or is this down to personal preference?GoBig2009-10-08 08:22:38
  19. As predicted by some of you, the package has been sitting at customs because they "didn't have an invoice". Well, thanks for letting me know then.... Anyway, paid only just over half the SA price for my Mavic Crossmax SLRs so it was worth it!
  20. Thanks - will do that. Do you usually need to collect at the post office?
  21. Don't worry - this isn't another "How does custom duties work for CRC orders?" thread Would just like to know how long hubbers have waited to get customs clearance on their packages, as mine has been with them for more than a week now. Is this normal? Any way to speed up the process? 22. Guys Thanks for all the advice. ML, have tried your method with some success and they are not rubbing any more (for now...). Since I'll be in JHB for the next two weeks I decided to not try and replace the pads before the Transbaviaans in case I $&%# something up and don't have time to fix it before then. But I will try your method then Werner - thanks! Btw - the pistons did seem to need some, uhm, pursuasion to move back and I still can't them to be flush with the inside of the calipers - are they supposed to be? Didn't want to force them too much in case I break something.
  23. For some reason I cannot get my discs to stop from touching the pads (without braking, of course ). I have an Anthem with Juicy Fives. This is driving me INSANE! If I turn my bike over and fiddle around with the wheels and the pads I get it to be better, but then after braking the first time it's the same story. Also, I tried to replace the brake pads today and had to change back to the old ones since with the new pads the wheels can hardly turn through the pads So what am I missing here?
