  1. Good heavens, so you want to race on strava on public roads, without marshals at intersections, no stopping or even slowing down at stop streets and robots because you are racing??? You must be pulling our legs!
  2. Nice race from Jacaranda, was a bid afraid of the Molotto road but that turned out to be the nicest part of the (tough) route. it really deserves to be attended better, maybe the same weekend as the Sun City kept the numbers down?

    3 Days of racing

I participated in the '3 Days of Racing' presented by the Centurion Cycling Club, on Oct 26-28 in and around Pretoria. I really think this one should be supported by more participators as it was a very enjoyable weekend for a very reasonable fee (R210,- for all 3 days if you pre entered) First day was a Hill climb at the Voortrekker Monument. 2.4km with the first 500m at about 12% gradient, the rest between 4 and 6%. Second day a 82km road race at Rooiwal, which was also a normal GN League event. 52km and 26km also offered (not part of the 3 Days of Racing) Thirth day a Criterium at the Zwartkop Race Track. Looks easy, but 'at speed' becomes very demanding. After the Criterium there was a prize giving with a First, Second and third prize for each Category Looking forward to next year.

    Bela Bela

I noticed that the Bela Bela does not start in town anymore but at the Sondela resort. A good change as the old start and first kilometer or two bad road surface through town was always nerve wrecking to me, as was the old finish with lots of traffic to deal with. Also the Sondela resort supplies entertainment for 'the ones that stay behind" while we cycle. In 2010 the roads were very bad, 2011 was a big inprovement, lets hope it's even better this year.

    The new Fast One

I found the 94.7 not accomodative at all! I entered as a full licenced vet50-55, and they seeded me in the open C bunch. After emailing them they replied that they can take my Sun City and Bela Bela races (both where Racetech timed events previous years) into consideration if I was prepared to pay a "fine" of R150,- I refused because i felt I did nothing wrong, and how did they seed me in the C bunch seeing that they rode exactly the same times as the vets 50-55 in the 2010 94.7 event??? They had no answer to this question.
  8. What do you people think of the new Vets seeded startgroups? especialy for the older 45+ vets? I liked it the way it was last year, competing against your own age group.
