  1. Since my last post, I actually found what I think is a good deal; XT hubs XC717 Mavic rims Revolution spokes; Looking at getting them CRC which should cost around R2088 before 14% hits me. From what I know there is no duty on wheels import....could be wrong though! You see, I'm trying to move away from the alex rims and hubs which came on my rockhopper. Would these in fact be an upgrade in terms of weight reduction and handling? Thanks
  2. Hey, we agree sweet. I upgraded my set, yes XT hubs, ZTR's and Revolutions with some aluminium axles that I machined out a my mate's dad's engineering works. . . . Must agree with you on the hubs, they are bullet proof and light. What did that upgrade cost you? Being weekend LBS are closed so I have been browsing CRC - ZTR R988 each XT hub FR R367 RR R505 Revolution spokes R230 * 2 = R460 Total R3308 Of course it does not include building fee....
  3. Hi, I am sure that this question has been asked before - can't find it on search though; so am asking it again. I'm wanting to move from my entry level RS Tora to a RS Revelation 426 dual air (NOT the U-turn) - too expensive. Going from 100mm to 140mm, what is the likely result to be with regards to climbing ability? I have a Rockhopper which is definitely XC orientated although I like to do bits of everything! Ideas will be welcomed.
  4. Did you get your wheels in the end? I'm looking at doing what you did with the Hope Pro 2's and then running Mavic XC717. . . . Your thoughts
  5. Any pictures available from your experience on the worn parts?
  6. It depends on how good a frame you have; whether it is worth while building on that for 18 months maybe or going whole hog and getting something new. Bear in mind that something decent in the MTB game these days will be around R9000 and up. At least that is what I think, with R9000 maybe being a bit low.
  7. Yea, it's a super fork and will be a great add when you get a new frame (better one) which I can guarantee you, you will e doing in the not too distant future.
  8. Mmm, you are probably looking for a recon or even a tora 318 both in solo air. Or do you prefer the coil over air for suspension? I have the Tora 302 and the coil is far to hard (get about 30-40mm of travel) with preload set low low; getting a new one is not worth the money in comparison to the vaue of the fork so going for a econd hand Fox.
  9. Check out TCRCARBON's Reba World Cup . . It's very good value
  10. Yea and hence she very seldom goes by the BMI. It works out that a professional body builder with body fat of less than 6% may be "over-weight" relative to BMI. But, it does have it's merits for use. A better one is perhaps waist to hip ratio - at least I think it is waist to hip. . .
  11. Yea, BMI of 19.7 is maybe a bit low My sister is a dietician and she sh%ts me out about it a LOT. I've got a competition with a friend that by end of November I'll be 65kg - anyone wanting to fund my protein supplements, give me a PM ! Ha ha. R250 is on the line. . . Matchstix, is that why you are matchstix? ha ha ha
  12. Shot for the replies! Given me a lot to think about. Shimano brakes seem to be popular, as does avid and hayes. Perhaps the big 3 so to say ?!
  13. I've read though that the juicy range tend to squeal badly. Experiences?
  14. The problem is that the adjustable brakes come in at such a high price. . . How does the Julie HP compare? Any opinions on AVID JUICY range?
  15. Hi all, I am in the process of moving from V's to disc's but with the wide choice out there; local and CRC I am at a loss. Does one go for AVID, HOPES, FORMULA, HAYES. . . I would appreciate feedback from you on your experiences with the different brands and suggestions to aid with my purchase. I do mostly XC but that ranges cause I have the UCI route in PMB literally at my doorstep. So I make use of the 4X track, DH route and XC course. I have a HT if that makes a difference on what I should be looking at.
