Which are preferred? Carbon fiber, Aluminium, or Steel? Looking to upgrade my handlebar any suggestions?
What are the main differences in riding between Straight or Raised?
Also can a handlebar setup be done by one's self or is a bike shop the best bet for this?
also take a look at www.obike.co.za
Hi Dalton,
I agree with DJR regarding the components and specs. I'd go look at the following sites:
www.dialdbikes.co.za - For new slightly older model bikes
www.thehubsa.co.za - For great deals on second hand bikes
Going second hand you will be able to get better components for your money but new you will at least get a warranty and bike setup at most shops.
At the moment I've seen that Momsen, Trek, Giant and Merida have an awesome range of bikes (I stand to be corrected). I've also heard that Fuji have returned to the market with MTB bikes and they have a few good offerings. Their road bikes are quality so I can imagine the MTB side of the business is well run.
I prefer Hardtail Large frame for now. I'm sometimes a bit worried at the condition of second-hand bikes and the abuse they have been put under.
Do mainly cross country
Hi all, I'm looking at upgrading my current bike and need a bit of advice. The price range I'm looking at is R15K and would like to know whether second-hand or new is the way to go?
Also what are the minimum specs I should be looking at in this price range? (Shocks, tubeless carbon etc.)
Have you looked at the Trek Mamba yet? Very competitively priced in the market for the quality components it has.
Do yourself a favour and try the Full Throttle Store (www.fullthrottle.co.za) or make a turn past their factory shop in Edenvale if you can get to JHB.
Anybody know the latest pricing?
I'm in the market for a MTB bike for a mate of mine and came across Fuji. They well spec'd for the price and have started noticing quite a few people riding them. I Know the road bikes have a successful history but haven't heard much on the MTB side of things.
Question 1: Is Fuji a quality brand/product?
Question 2: Is there any after sales service for Fuji in SA?
Question 3: Where is a reputable bike shop that we can go and test a few?
Thanks for the input... Will make a decision shortly.
Hi, I have a Trek Mamba 29er with Bontrager 29-2, 29x2.2" front & rear tyres and wanted to know if these will be compatible to go tubeless? Also what are the pros and cons of going tubeless?
And also where would the best cycle shop to do this job? I'm a JHB boy!

Advice on CUBE

Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice before purchasing a MTB CUBE Acid 29er Hardtail with regards to anybody who has had experience with this brand?
The Acid that I'm looking at is 15K and the specs for this bike are average to medium. Is it worth spending my hard earned cash on a new bike like this or rather look for a decent second hand version?
Also what is the support and backup service on this brand?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
