  1. Thanks Matter, what a nice birthday presie for me......information of what has happened!!!! Some Question though! How does the Princessvlei Development affect this project as i was told that their is something similar on the plans of the PDC and that council wants to get all parties involved, yet last week there was an article in the local papers on how the PDC plans are going ahead. so have you met with them, is the track under them, is it under you guys. what is the proper "story". Like many others, we would like to get on board and assist, but there are to many people wearing chieftain hats and no one is actually saying what is happening, and how we should move forward. I speak to the previous counceller alot, i mean he is my neighbour, so i know some of the stories, and once again stories........no one wants to fess up and say: THIS IS HOW WE MOVE FORWARD. i tried and got told NO, there are other parties involved. So once again thanks for this, but we undoubtedly have to wait for council to wave the white flag in order to move forward!!!!! in the mean time the crowdfunding idea could start churning, so that when the time comes and council says GO for IT, we will have the funds to go ahead. I do think that we should have an informal chat of people that want to be involved, so we can take a tally of the guys and gals and get a cohesive group going. What you all think???
  2. Spoke to him last year, there was suppose to be a meeting with all parties involved and i got hold of 1 of the parties that tried to reserect the bmx plan. and was told that funds were wasted and that they want to do something, but are waiting on all the red tape approval, and they are waiting to see what happens to the front of the vlei as there are supposed plans for a bike track around the vlie. Heaven knows what is happening as it feels like i am getting nowhere, i spoke to guys wrt bike parks and was told that the original jumps that Chris Nixon did on the false bay coast side, was also "demolished" because of council red tape. so what can you do if council wields the power, even though you are trying to do good
  3. So there was misappropriation of funds etc, so now council is Tight with this project
  4. are these still up for a good home?
  5. no, was a bit to peeved off to check the van, looked like a NV200 though. and honestly i was angry at myself for not going into town and getting my permit than them riding for "free"
  6. Thanks GLUVS on the first point, maybe because he was talking afrikaans to me, HE made the first assumption. Secondly, i have nothing against the ranger, he just never had the olive green TMNP GEAR and had a yellow and orange reflective vest. Thirdly, when i overheard them, i did say something in passing, but the response was "Guys, don't worry about it, enjoy your ride!"
  7. So i decided to be adventurous and ride from Lower cable station all round to Rhodes, only to be cut short by a ranger (looked more like a car guard/ security) saying that i don't have a board and yes i didn't have a permit, and yes i was trying and i asked me to turnaround, which i promptly did. I normally do blockhouse anyway. But on the way back to the car park, i see and overhear this english couple getting the "lowdown" of the bikes they rented and that they cannot believe that all the trails are "free"!! They never had any boards on their bike! So is it a matter of colour, prejudice or that their permits are included in their rental, coz they rode pass the ranger/ security with no problem. so why is it that we should pay for our own trails in our own city, but tourists get to ride it ride free? Can someone please tell me if i am just "disgruntled coloured bra" that has been refused a bit to many times or that these bike rent places have an agreement with TMNP and the rangers know the guys?
  8. We have the same rule as Dominionza, as long as the bills are paid. So the rule is if you really need it it and going to get use from it, then buy it, but there are instances that she would like the look or feel of something and claims it, ie: kit and most recently my road/ work bike. Remember the old addage, " whats yours is hers and what is hers is hers"
  9. hi there, they both ball bearing, but gonna change to cartridge, if possible. Going to my LBS on saturday, thought i could sort it out beforehand!
  10. Hi Hubbers and Hubbetes I need your advice please, so i decide to up my riding and get a newish frame after riding Scott for "jaare". so i purchased an Axis A80 from a fellow hubber, but now i am a bit stumped Axis and Scott are similar products, and i am moving most of my components over. The Axis says Headset: VP DROP IN/ PRESS FIT. Currently i have a Ritchey headset on the Scott and yes i am a NOOB when it comes to headsets, i have refurbished older bikes but building a newer one is "different". so would i need to replace the crown race on my forks or would i have to take the ritchey's off and onto the axis! Please help!! Thanks
