  1. People, if you ride alone, please use the Garmin "Live track" facility so your family can follow your progress when you are out there. If you haven't got a Garmin or other computer, install Life 360 on your phone, each family member can follow the other wherever, whenever (great for keeping tabs on the kids too). *It is cellphone signal dependent. Or get an iphone 14, with a direct link to satellite in case of emergency. These days, there's no excuse for getting out of touch and causing so much concern amongst friends and family. "It'll never happen to me" doesn't wash anymore. https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=f518218dec7f14b9JmltdHM9MTY3MDE5ODQwMCZpZ3VpZD0xZjllOWQyNi0zZDgyLTZjNGYtMjNhNC04ZjNlM2NmMDZkNDEmaW5zaWQ9NTE4MQ&ptn=3&hsh=3&fclid=1f9e9d26-3d82-6c4f-23a4-8f3e3cf06d41&psq=life+360+tracking+app&u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubGlmZTM2MC5jb20v&ntb=1
  2. Affirmative, there may be signs left over from the Eco-weekend that were missed when collecting them in, if you see any please advise location and we'll disappear them!
  3. I have just ordered the signage, so give it until Mid-November, will announce it far and wide when it's official.
  4. It is going to be a new link, was supposed to open last week but we had some issues so it is in abeyance whilst we sort them out. It will link a new start point, Karibib, with Jordan and the Bike Park (also a new start point). I will mark the loop closed on Trailforks until we are ready...
  5. Someone stole the pole and sign at the entrance to Lizard, it's on the list to replace with the new info...
  6. https://strava.app.link/f0Y2K8vy6jb The start is on the left, 10m above the old right turn into the Lizard single track. The route is marked now, just follow the red arrows-hard to get lost! It finishes right next to the old exit of Lizard, above Wolfkloof. We just finished it yesterday, the going and edges are soft! It will be loaded onto Trailforks as soon as poss...
  7. You can find up-to-date maps of the Bottelary Hills mtb trails and any other trails in the world at www.trailforks.com
  8. Don't turn right! After the fence 'junction' carry straight on for 50m, you will get back onto to the old road that takes you up to Ribbok.
  9. There are now 4 waterpoints on the route, check out the Bottelary Conservancy Mtb trail map on their website for locations (also on www.trailforks.com). The one on the lawn at Welgevonden has closed, but another has been installed at Goedehoop next door, which should be available shortly.
  10. MTB TRAILS OPEN The BHC MTB-trails will be open from Monday, 1 June 2020 from sunrise to sunset for 2020 annual permit holders only. Please note that no day permits will be sold during this time and that both Asara and Hazendal remains closed until further notice. Zevenwacht Wine Estate will open access to permit holders. Please park at designated parking area outside the boom – no vehicle access for cyclists. You can park and ride from Jordan Wine Estate. Please respect our landowners and adhere to government regulations to play your part in fighting the Covid 19 Epidemic - wear your mask, sanitise, practice social distancing and please no group rides. BHC annual permits are available at a special rate of R340 and will be valid until end December 2020. Permits must be clearly displayed on your handle bars at all times. No permit no ride. Permits available online at www.bottelaryconservancy.co.za for collection from Flandria in Stellenbosch / Cyclo Sport in Kuilsriver / Attitude Cycles in Brackenfell and CWC in Bellville.
  11. The Bottelary Hills Mtb trails are open but only to Permit holders, no day permits are for sale yet. You can buy permits online, R340 for the the rest of the year. If you are caught riding without a permit you will be fined R120 by the marshals, and lots of them are out looking. #NoExcuses https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3072195562826490&id=183227135056695?sfnsn=scwspmo&extid=yDlcNH0I4W7ou0Rp
  12. Please note, in the interests of safety, Ribbok Trail is now completely closed at the red crosses (see map) for logging until the end of March. If you want to access the trails either side, use Skaapsterker. This is normally one way, so please take care for riders coming from the other direction whilst the diversion is in place!
  13. Agree 100%. I live close to the Tmtb trails, but mostly ride at Bottelary! Coffee shops/food at Hazendal, Jordan, Asara, Zevenwacht, Brenaissance and Devon Valley Golf Club; you shouldn't go short of caffeine or nourishment. Hazendal has the Family Bike Park, designed for all ages and abilities, as a matter of interest what do you consider a 'family option' to be?
  14. ALL the route signage is due for an overhaul, The Conservancy has just updated the maps, are currently re-designing the route split boards and new direction markers.
