  1. Glad I read this thread as the PPA email was in my Spam folder. Looking forward to number 14.
  2. I would love to do something like that. Perhaps when I retire. There is an organized cycle tour, the Tour d'Afrique. The last time i looked it cost about $10 000 and I see the 2024 trip is already booked out
  3. I have the same issue, but this just got posted on their bookface feed: “With so much excitement around this year’s event our call centre is currently experiencing high volumes. If you’re a PPA member and struggling to get through, mail us at info@cycletour.co.za and we’ll get back to you ASAP. We are also aware of the payment confirmation ‘time out’ issue: Don’t worry, your status will be updated later if your payment has been successful.”
  4. I bought a Big nine 5000 earlier in the year. It’s an absolutely brilliant bike, very happy with it. I don’t know if a Big nine is the best value for money MTB you can get, but if it isn’t it must be very close.
  5. Fair enough, but 52000 miles (or R5200 per year) for doing something I do anyway is not to be sneezed at (especially in COVID times )
  6. Not sure if this was covered in the Captains posts "We are excited to let you know that as of 3 October 2020, Vitality Health and Vitality Drive members who are also qualifying Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money can now earn even more Discovery Miles when getting active and driving well. You can earn up to 1 Discovery Mile for every 1 Vitality Health fitness or Vitality Drive point you earn weekly. What this means is that you could earn over 60 000 Discovery Miles a year for getting active and driving well, weekly."
  7. If you have, then don’t worry. The world can always do with more Radiohead.
  8. Isolation by Joy Division. Somehow appropriate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Mz5AEgE24o
  9. You could think of something like a hybrid bike, like a Giant Escape. I had a Giant hybrid until the frame cracked a couple of years ago and I ended up with a Defy as a replacement under their warranty. The Defy is also something you could look at, although I find that I get neck issues after about 3 hours in the saddle.
  10. Absolutely. The big clubs will survive, of course. I suspect though that there are some Championship, league 2 and 3 clubs that will go to the wall in the next year because of this.
  11. For me the empty stadiums show how important crowds are to enjoying sport, even on TV. I watched some of the PSG Dortmund game and a couple of others without crowds present and it was weirdly unemployable. Hopefully owners will realize that, and stop being as exploitative of fans. Some hope I know.
  12. Premier league suspended to 03 April https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/mar/13/premier-league-and-football-league-suspended-until-4-april-coronavirus Bowing to reality I guess, but the right decision.
  13. At least until we die. What is a solution heer though. I reckon postpone Euro 2020 to 2021 and try and finish the leagues/cups in June/July with the hope that Coronavirus is under control by then. Or just wipe this year off with no champion and start again next year. That would be very amusing for non Liverpool fans, but a bit unfair.
  14. Ebikes started going past me at Suikerbossie. Pretty impressive seeing them walz up the climb compared to most of us at that point.
  15. I also saw someone on the side of the road at the beginning of the Smitswinkel climb. Medics were there and he/she was in a recovery blanket. Hope there were no big issues.
