  1. Anyone have any info on these trails. I know what I've found online, but all trails look like blue or green. Aparently some new trails since Dec 2022. So... Any good red/enduro style trails. I'm heading there tomo as in the area, but if not worth it I'll head to the concordia/simola trails in Knysna. Hitting witfontein on Thursday which I know are great. Thanks for any info
  2. Thanks all, I have forwarded all the info to him so he has a better idea of what he's in for.
  3. Hey MTBRIDER, thanks for that. Yeah I'm thinking hardtail would be best suited. I think he lives at De Hoop Nature reserve, so prob jeep tracks. Probably his first bikes in many years. I don't think he would have the bike knoweledge to spec up a bike, so ideally looking for a specific bike capable of carrying a 150kg person.
  4. A family member wants to start riding, I'm guessing mostly xc type. I've been riding for years, but know nothing in this bike category... So anyone out there know of a specific hard tail or full suss around the 20k mark? XL or XXL i think he's 2m and 150kg (from gyming, not from doughnuts) Any help much appreciated.
  5. Great initiative! I've got some parts for you. Will give you a shout today.
  6. 'jump-to-bush' line... Hahaha... Yeah got me on both runs! ????????
  7. You can gun it! Some sneaky little natural 'jumps' on the trail edges for some fun mini-whips.
  8. Go to LBS, get a carboard box for 29er. Remove wheels, pedals, handlebar, rotors, and RD and tie inside rear triangle. Deflate tyres, pack all gear in there and use bubble wrap. Paste 100's of FRAGILE stickers on. Pack all spare stuff in so it doesn't shift/vibrate. I do it like that works best.
  9. +1 for Williams. Knows all there is to know about wheels!
  10. Wow....why so many devices? I've had my Edge 800 for nearly 10 years now and no issues other than maybe frozen 3 times, and that I can't upload my rides to Strava without a pc. Oh... and that I cant load contours on my map.
  11. Apparently there's a well known saying about curiosity..........
  12. Anyone know where to get these in SA... Bearings are fine- only the bushings are finished- seen an import from US for R700..excluding shipping. Must be able able to get somewhere... or are we still that far behind???
  13. https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/maxxis-minion-dhf-wide-trail please please please
  14. Already out there, the new Spez diverge has 20mm suspension in the stem - which i test rode, and think it would be great on a long day out on the gravel bike - only problem is cost and more maintenance.
  15. The times- they are a changing........... I will post some feedback once I have the dropper and some saddle time. Thanks for the encouraging advice- makes me feel less guilty about spending more money on bikey stuff.
  16. Well I definitely find when going downhill my centre of gravity is so high- I feel awkward. I'm used to my mtb and enjoy leaning in corners etc- but don't feel secure at all so high up and saddle in the way.
  17. Thinking of putting a dropper on my Spez Diverge comp- Anyone else done this -pros/cons? Gonna need to be 27mm and looking for approx 125mm travel -any recommendations- also nearer the R2500 range.
  18. Tranquilitas is awesome- went there last year, rode there 3 days in a row- you wont forgive yourself if you don't visit it. It's a hidden gem! beautiful scenery, kickass singletrack of all kinds. https://www.bikehub.co.za/features/_/articles/routes-trails/tranquilitas-mountain-biking-do-it-right-r6375
  19. Hey- you guys have any 118 link 10 speed chains in stock & price?
  20. Yep, they are quick on their side- but my parcel sat for 2+ months in SA postal side....
  21. Hehe- not bothered about weight. But... going from a 11-36 to 10-42 and a 26/39 to a 28/42 up front, hell yes- my top end is brilliant, and climbing mountains is a joke -whats there not to use?? AND- now is working sweet - so Droo, I owe you some beers!
  22. Well Mr Droo... I checked using your method, and overlapped by one link, so tried adding 2 links to check, and it seems to shift now without jamming- so it seems this could be the winner! Will take it for a test spin tomo and let you know!
