  1. Yes. More practical & realistic to allow all competitors to use whatever they like. Some will kill themselves doing it - like Simpson did. But I suspect genetics & appropriate training will still prevail over any chemical advantage - we don't know, because we're still bickering about moral issues
  2. yeah, moral fibre.. wish I could agree with you that it's relevant today. The RAF used that expression when pilots couldn't stand combat strain, they were disgraced for 'lack of moral fibre'.. 1) those pilots survived to pro-create (Darwin), 2) does anyone even remember the hapless sods who died - replete with 'moral fibre'... again, I wish the world was as you see it, but I believe in reality. Throw the game open - Froome will still win.. As Connery said in "The Untouchables" : 'what are you prepared to do'..
  3. yip - so did Roelf Meyer, when no-one else could stomach the need to talk to the ANC, so did Noakes, even after contradicting himself in 'Lore of Running'.. hehe
  4. ah, there's always a Mother Grundy.. have you heard of Darwin? What if your descendants curse you for denying them their head-start in the (human) race - which takes no account of artificial constructs like morals.. will your safe, rigid view of what's 'right' enable them to compete, in a world of enhanced super-athletes? but never mind, they'll be comforted by the notion that you did what you thought was 'right', in your little world view...
  5. you could be quite correct - but if you had to choose, with brutal honesty, would you really choose an honest second over first? I don't know.. Thanks for the chat gentlemen, apologies if I raised anyone's blood pressure with my devil's advocacy!
  6. ah.. the point of life on earth.. waxing philosophical here. Respect that argument. But is it *relevant*, is it the future? From what I've seen, the new cool is 'get rich quick, do whatever it takes, only winning counts, second doesn't'..
  7. dude, hematocrit *is* red blood cell count. You 'believe'? Have you tried any of these meds, or are you repeating what you've read? Test propionate or suspension - shortest test esters - cause significant PIP and water retention. Yes, test improves recovery, but I assure you, in training for an endurance event, test is not your friend... this from someone who has no prejudice against any substance. Far better off with good quality HGH - which costs more than most of us can afford..
  8. lol - this "junk" is the cutting edge of medical science mate.. you'd be mad if I gave it to your kid - even if it made him 1st team rugby captain? and got him a nice fat varsity bursary with juicy supplements endorsements? yeah.. I often ask my wife if the old world values we teach our kids equip them for the future...
  9. testosterone? anyone who knows anything about meds in sport knows that test, in any dose above TRT level, *detracts* from endurance ability, because it causes nasty sides like raised hematocrit, increased water retention - and cycling's all about power/weight ratio... Gotta love the armchair experts with nothing better to do than nitpick other dude's lives eh..
  10. ah man, its 2016 - no prizes for puritanical zealots.. anyone over 30 doing any kind of training will enjoy benefit from some HGH or other decent peptide - no side effects, unlike AAS. Do some research, ask your doctor, get a prescription if the nanny-state mentality scares you. One life, live it, like the landy lads say..
  11. Ah grow up - so the dude used a bit of junk, let's throw a holier than thou hissy fit.. train harder, you'll still beat him if you've got the talent.. gotta love the angels who never said boo to a goose .. probably why I prefer bag mitts to cycling gloves..
  12. thankyou sir! much appreciated
  13. Greetings cyclists, I have an Alpina, from the 80's, mostly original, with Mavic ally rims, EX 300 jockey and "exage" components. It's my training/racing bike, I've had it for 20 years now, it's a real beauty, and easy to ride. But the trouble with regularly using a classic bike is replacing the wear parts - the guy at my bike shop laughed when I showed him the old chainrings. I need a 5 point chain ring set, and a set of down-tube shifters.. where do other classic bikers get their wear parts? Any advice / suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
