  1. Obviously not the RIGHT full suspension bike. Go Marin Mount Vision. Santa Cruz Blur XC Carbon or BMC Four Stroke 01
  2. buy it ride it, either you love it or you hate it. if you hate it sell it at a good price to someone on the hub, make their day and put it down to school fees on your part. Start all over again( the circle of life). There is a specific bike out there for everyone, you my just have to do the excercise a few times till you find the one for you.
  3. Buy them now while they still there! I have been to 4 Sportmans in JHB/Pretoria area and they say they don't keep the accessories, but they can order them. Many cycle shops don't even know what a GSC10 is. In all honesty that must say something about the demand for Garmin accessories. GSC10's break left right and center, so they should be a common spare, but they're not. I was told before by the agents that I can get them at a certain sportsmans warehouse, after jumping in the car and driving to the said store. The women pulled out a polar cadence sensor and said here this is the one I have. I was just a little pissed. I eventually got it via my own source and by passed all the local dealers. Until they up there support to the consumer, I will not support the local dealers. After hearing about the calorie count issues I think I am going to look for a more accurate device. I am still very disapointed
  4. send me your e mail address and I will send you a article compiled by schwable on tyre pressure and rolling resistance on various surfaces
  5. You can order accessories from europe and get them here with tnt quicker then you can get them from your local dealer. You will also get the right accessories first time around.
  6. thats a huge let down, time to look for something else, not to mention that you can't buy accessories off the shelf from any of there dealers.
  7. great wheels, 4000 km of rididing with only one cone change. CONE CHANGE +- R480.00 Vey happy with them. I think that you don't see them that often as the are not as bling as other wheel sets. I went for strngth over bling XTR all the way.
  8. check out www.bikeradar.com they have reviews on a number of products including camelbak. Really good site to get product reviews.
  9. Thanks Cassie<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Exactly, it?s called discussion/forum everyone is entitled to there own opinion. All views are valid and appreciated in my book. Good and bad are welcome. It is the diversity and opposing views in a forum that help us make a more informed decision. Without both sides of the coin there would be no point of the forum. As for the economy, we all have to put food on the table and how we do it is well how we do it. I really do hope you find the right oil.
  10. Ditto, Park Tool Big Blue Book
  11. Honestly, all this trouble to save like R50.00 Thats tight. Buy the time you go through all the hassel you might as well have just bought the correct oil. For the extra R50.00 you getting peace of mind. I don't think thats a bad deal. This to me is like driving 200 km for a R500 discount, just does not make sense.
  12. it can be cheaper to buy a new bike with a good group set then to upgrade piece by piece. with the new bike, you gettin more value for your money. Perfect example are the Raleighs. Do the maths and see which option is better.
  13. the difference between brake fluid and mineral oil systems is the rubber that they use to make the seals. Mineral oil works well with Nitrile Rubber(NBR). Brake fluid and NBR are not compatible and vice versa. You need to have seals made from Ethylene Propylene (EPDM) for brake fluid. NBR Seals used in brake fluid swell and become soft and snotty. Mineral oil is mineral oil, just make sure that the thickness (viscocity) is consitant to the original product. it should not have any effect on the seals of a mineral oil based system. Dont use mineral oil in a brake fluid system. Mineral oil is better to use then brake fluid and is not corrosive like brake fluid and far sfaer and easier to work with.
  14. bibs are way more comfortable
  15. That's what my bro-inlaw did with his Raleigh RM8.0' date=' rode it hard, then the frame snapped, is that just a Raleigh thing or a carbon thing??[/quote'] If you buy carbon do your home work, and spend the money on quality. Like anything, you get good carbon and you get cheap carbon.
  16. I topple over a fair bit but still haven't managed to chip the paint on my alu bike I think the whole carbon-will-break-all-the-time thing is blown up out of proportion. My friend's Bianchi alu MTB frame cracked as did another GT marathon frame of another of my riding partners. I ride a GT alu marathon frame and have had nothing but joy from it. Materials fail. There is a warranty' date=' use it if it is a manufacturing defect. My reasons for not wanting to ride carbon is, like your sig says, not wanting to be a ponce. Those swoopy, plastic designs just make me feel like I am in some kind of Buck Rogers movie. Even the road bikes now look all twisted and melted and I am told thats how they are supposed to look? They also seem over priced to me. The GT carbon is only a few hundred grams lighter than the same specced alu bike and costs 10 k more [/quote'] There are more pros then cons to a carbon bike and once you ride one chance are you will be hooked. They give a totally different feel...tabasco2009-08-07 01:52:55
  17. Carbon fiber is a lot stronger then people think. If you are going to ride carbon ride a good quality carbon bike. Carbon is most probably stronger then ali. If it was such a bad choice in material why would F1 swear by it? Like I said and I stick by it. Only those who don?t ride carbon will have something bad to say about it<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  18. ha ha ha classic..... When you find the solution let me know. To much sun bed is bad and you never get the two tone out completely. Summers comming get yourself a banana hamock (speedo not to be worn in public please) and spend your afternoons recovering from a good ride around the pool.
  19. treat it like you would treat any bicycle, they are tougher then what most people think. The only people who knock carbon frames are the ones that don't have or have not ridden them. Crabon Rocks
  20. sometimes its cheaper to buy a whole new bike, then to upgrade. XTR group set +- R20000 to R24000 including wheels, carbon bars, seat pots and stem another R4000 Plus e few extras, you in for 30000 excluding front fork. RM LTD hardtail is about R35000 complete on special at the moment RM XO R29000. makes sense to buy the Raleigh just for the components and sell the frame. tabasco2009-07-16 08:23:29
  21. 4. the rider, most probably give you best value for your money
