  1. I saw the wheels today.... They are the dimple version with the new rim profile, but still with the red banner under the Zipp name. They were bought in 2008, the same year they changed the branding colors from red to silver. They come with Tubbies. So I guess 8k is still a good buy. I will still need to convert the rear wheel from Campaq to Shimano 10spd. Any idea how much that will cost?
  2. Thanks, I found the time line. I am not sure. I will see them tomorrow to make my final decision. Just needed to get all my ducks in a row before I negotiate with the seller. Thanks for the help...
  3. Is there any way to see or identify what year the wheels was manufactured? Any obvious trademark changes or artwork or anything that has changed from 2006 to present.....? Don't just want to take their word for it
  4. Wao!! Thanks for the graph. I did not know that. They are amazing climbing wheels but I can believe that those fat round carbon spokes could not be very friendly to the wind resistance.....
  5. LOL, yip, you read my mind.... I am a real roady. The problem is that I wanted to get a MTB to try out the other side of cycling as well. Then this opportunity came along. So, I need to decide if the Mavics will do the job, and I shop for a 8K MTB or do I invest in the 404's because they are a good bargain that does not come by everyday......They will look nice on my bike
  6. Sorry, did not mean to show off. Just thought it might help if you knew how much I could get it for. I understand what you say. Thanks again
  7. Thanks for all the advice. Did I say I can get the set for 8K
  8. Hahaha!!! Thanks hey. That answers my question..... Sort of......
  9. I need advice please. I own a pair of Mavic R-sys wheels and love them allot. I have a opportunity to buy a set of Zipp 404's for a very good price, but not sure if it will be a waste of money. Are the two wheel sets even comparable or can I invest in a set of 404's? The R-Sys wheels are obviously clinchers and the 404's are tubbies...Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.
  10. Thanks buddy, you to. What was your end time.. See the timming is again in shambles, getting the distance wrong and everything. Lucky for us there is enough guys here fighting the fight... Thanks guys. My average was 40km/h until racetec got hold of me... Now I am down to a 37. The only positive is that it go's for everyone... for now
  11. so anyone know what the rules are? I know he didn't feature at the finish. Maybe I am just a bit jealous I didn't get the same help I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MAKES HIM BETTER THAN US TO GET SUPPORT FROM A CAR. I WAS PART OF TH 5MAN GROUP TRYING TO CLOSE THE GAP AFTER LOOSING THE VA BUNCH ON THE BIG CLIMB AFTER THE POTHOLE SECTION. KEPT THE GAP THE SAME FOR ABOUT 8KM (IN THIS TIME A BULKPACK MEAT RIDER CAME PAST US IN THE SLIP OF A HILUX BAKKIE -NOT FAIR) WE ROAD OUR ASSES OF TO TRY AND KEEP IN TOUCH WITH THE GROUP. TommieV what kit were you in? I was also in that 5 man group. Man that was tough!!!! I was in the blue and white Novo Nordisk kit with the black Karbona. The guy that suffered the most

  13. Hey, some of us must work during the day to be able to pay for these expensive races. 24 posts are good considering.......... Relax Mampara...... Het nie bedoel om jou te beledig nie DEFINITIEWE TONG IN DIE KIES
  14. Guys, I have been talking about this for a long time wit all of my fellow riders. It is expensive to race and is getting worse. I tried running a bit and was amazed to see what I got for only R55 entry on a 21km race. There was double the waterpoints; the goody bag kicked the Argus Tour's ass big time and we got a free T-Shirt. Thats vallue for money. The cycle race organisers need to think volume and not max profit. The lower the entry, the more riders = rise in turnover. Maybe their is a race organiser - let me repeat - a honest race organiser that can give us a breakdown on the cost of a 100km race taking in account all sponsors. O, and by the way, I can see when I read your comments why you are called a mamparra. In afrikaans that is not a compliment......
