  1. Was recently at Van Gaalens, stopped at the floating bridge so my buddy could do it a few times as he has never done a floating bridge before, then came along a group of 3 riders so i took videos of them crossing, and here are 2 screen shots of the videos i took.
  2. I personally like the Fox Flow, im looking at purchasing one for myself as soon as I find it in the right color
  3. Ya i was there last week and the temperature was 43 Celsius in the sun at 2pm, unbelievably hot.
  4. @shaper, i honestly didn't even think of that, what a kluts.. Thanks haha
  5. Thanks L.T.G, could you possibly find out as i dont use facebook
  6. Thanks Mike Bike looking forward to it
  7. Ah Okay really looked like Table view hey @Wheeler2, we need a picture of your Merida standing proud next to some awesome single-track
  8. Another question, will Van Gaalens be open on Sunday the 27th? I cant wait to get back there and do that river section again.
  9. Clicking sound just as the rear shock starts compressing.. Very odd, could be the BB Bearing is maybe loose, or one of the pivot bearings or bolts might need tightening up.. Just check all the connection points are nice and tight. When i bought my bike the clowns that assembled it didn't bleed the rear brake, brake handle would close fully with no resistance and no braking, although i did install my slx brakes on my Merida before i even took a ride in the garden, i also had to shorten the chain by 7 links if i remember correctly, as if they put a standard chain on and never bothered to check if its too long so fixed that along with replacing the rear derailleur from deore to slx shadow and i had to tighten the cassette and the lock ring for the rear rotor was finger tight too,so after installing my old bikes xt rotors on the merida i tighened them properly too. So just double check all bolts, cable ties, lock rings, you name it.
  10. Today at van Gaalens. So far iv done 100km since i drilled my seat tube and no catastrophic failure yet..
  11. Wheeler2, awesome looking bike, not often i see someone else with the same frame Merida as mine i really smaak that green and black color scheme
  12. BSG, is that Bloubergstrand? More specifically table view area? The paving and view of the sea looks very familiar.
  13. As promised, here she is, washed, clean and looking new with the new dropper installed I will post a update pic once the new rims are on
  14. Okay perfect, thanks EmptyB, much appreciated
  15. Morning everyone, I'm keen to go ride van gaalens tomorrow, anyone know if they open tomorrow? Only asking as i see Hakahana posted a notice on their website saying their closed now and opening again in the new year..
  16. That's the kinda article that makes one appreciate the joys of owning a bike. Super keen to get out there.
  17. Okay cool, il take a chance, try something new and will get the ardent for a front. And any opions regarding which is better 2.1 inch or 2.25 inch?
  18. Maxxis ardent, how are they rolling resistance wise?
  19. They still tubes, im waiting for my flow ex rims to arrive then going tubeless. I find, for my preference that 2.2 bar front and 2.5bar back works well for now. When i go tubeless i plan to drop down to 2 bar front and back and fine tune from there. Tire size 2.1 at the moment but i want a beefier looking tire so considering 2.25 if i can get hold of the Crossmark LUST in that size for 650b.
  20. Very interesting about the cornering, I manage to get my back wheel to start sliding out before the front gives way.. Both front and back are Crossmarks. Front 2.2 bar and rear 2.5 bar. That's on single track on hard pack. Mankele, Karkloof, some of sabie merry pebble trails, red barn, voortrekker monument and rosemary hill are where iv ridden and no problems with Crossmark up front.. The only place I get some hairy moments are on mossy rocks, wet rocks and wet roots. Then it's a balancing act to stay upright.
  21. Thanks for the info, much appreciated, I was going to get a set of nobby nics but opted for LUST Crossmarks, I see many guys say Crossmarks are no good on the front but iv never had a issue with them other than my normal Crossmarks on the rear get plenty side wall damage and tube starting to poke through. I decided on the Crossmarks LUST solely on the fact that I know and trust them and I couldn't find NN's online or at my LBS. Howcome so many don't like the Crossmarks on the Front?
  22. I can vouch for Indola shorts and first ascent shorts, you get what you pay for.. I also bought a cheaper pair of shorts, (Cape storm) and I regret It, the padding on the Indola and First Ascent are in a class of its own compared to the Cape Storm shorts.
  23. I took 4 bikes down to kzn recently, 2 on the Aluminium canopy roof laying down and 2 on the bike carrier, it's a Hilux 3 litre D4D. Loaded with camping stuff, food etc for 4 people for a week. I got the same fuel consumption that I usually get when travelling long distance loaded with tools and equipment. About 10l per 100km. So coming back to your question, I doubt there will be much difference between a bike carrier and canopy
  24. Haha brilliant could you take a close up picture of the entry hole for your droppers hose in the seat tube?
