    Hehehe, that is cold man, cold. I find the trick is to invite friends who spend more on bikes than you do, and then discuss their latest purchase within earshot of your wife. Gives her a nice leveling number to make your expenses seem cheap. Of course good form dictates that you should be outside of said friends wife's earshot.

    Stick with your bunch , around 50km there is that 'hill' to drop the 'heavies', make it over that hill with a group and sub 3 is yours.

    Eish, apparently I can replace10 speed ultegra dérailleur with a 9 speed MTB one, giving me access to a 36 cassette. Wondering if it's worth the admin. Has anybody done this successfully?

    How are the hills towards the end of the ride on tired legs? do you run normal gearing or a bigger than usual cassette for the race? I have 11-28 and compact front and feel a bit nervous.

    5 Ten shoes worth the bucks, you won't be sorry. I bought the cheapest pair with Dartmoor pedals (arguably not the best brand) and have to lift up my foot to adjust pedal position.
