  1. Wow, So I just picked up the Fenix 7x SS edition. Coming from an apple watch user for the last 5 years was a huge leap of faith on a platform I am not at all familiar with and must say so far I am impressed however I do miss some things. For instance I have gotten used to the fact with apple rings that I need to close on a daily basis, but really the Garmin buy was purely because over the last few months I have become more of an outdoor person, where cycling, walking, hiking, etc. has been the forefront of my life. I thank Covid Lockdowns for the change in lifestyle. I felt with apple watch and strava I was getting along just ok but not helping to much with actual fitness stats. And with Garmin, from a proper outdoor activity watch in which you get a lot more information plus the added bonus of never worrying to charge it every single night was a massive bonus. I can say with 48hrs of using it, I already forgot about my apple watch which to me to shocking considering I am huge apple fan boy. I don't even miss the bright screen. Epix was a option, but really the Fenix 7x is a beast of a watch. Size was a huge difference but wow, I don't even realize I have different watch on. If you are thinking of jumping ship, just do it. Well worth it
  2. Are you happy with this version? Deciding between this or the epix
  3. Yea, I did look at the Fox range, it seems good for light trail use.
  4. Hi Guy's & Gal's So i have just done my first Holla trails, Green route a week back and loved it. Going for round 2 this weekend. No falls yet, but surely it will come, So I was thinking of getting at least some knee pads for now. What would you recommend as I need it to be easy for pedaling as well some basic protection. I don't see myself doing hectic trails just yet but who knows. Only just started riding again about 2 months back so building my fitness up. Out of curiosity how many of you wear body protection?
  5. Upgrading from what may i ask? Apple as well
  6. When do you think this will be available in South Africa? i am a Apple watch user and since doing a lot more riding now, i feel this may be a good time to get a fenix.
  7. Hi, i am having this same issue with my thule bike rack. How did the spot welding work thus far?
  8. Hi guys, i am in the same boat. Need to fit a towbar on my golf 7 gti. Quote from dealer is 11.5k excl labor to install. Still have wqrranty which i want to keep. Any other options as towbar SA want between 4 and 5k for their unit. But warranty will fall away.
  9. A guy here. I did pick up some cycling shorts. Not use to these padded things but i guess in the long run this is whats needed
  10. Well, I had an Elliptigo before this which I sold, so the funds from that paid for this bike. If I had to buy with new funds I am sure my budget would have been much lower. I did not buy a top end bike, I think I bought a good quality bike that would give many years of happiness. and to be honest, I just really like this bike. I had so many options to choose from and yet my heart was for this bike. I truly love it.
  11. Well this is what I picked up last week Friday. Not used to riding Bicycles so I do have a trainer at home.I want to put it on that so I could get used to the gears and how they work. 20 Years ago my BMX was just peddle and go and this is all new to me. However the bike won't work with the crossmark tyres that I have as its too thick and catches on the trainer. So 1 of the reasons is to put new wheels with slicks is for that. The other is in my estate I can use slicks and be comfortable there too. Still very early for me to go on trails etc as I am still very shaky on the bike itself. I don't want to go wasting tyre tread if I don't need to. That is why I am looking at a 2nd set of wheels with slicks and I don't think it can ever go to waste. Maybe in a years time I might go road bike route, but till that time I rather get what I can now and enjoy it. Anycase for me its also to help with loosing weight and have fun.
