  1. Would anybody recommend just buying the tools and doing the job myself as I can probably see this will occur again in the future? Called City Cycles today and the basically told me to pissoff over the phone as they are too busy... nice ne...
  2. Its a Giant Alias 09
  3. Ive had my bike for 2 weeks. I do a lot of rocks, sand and gravel and now my crank has developed a slight grinding noise. I haven't ridden the bike since it made the noise, but I have cleaned most of the muck off with paraffin. Everything looks like new now, but there is still a creak in the pedals and the annoying sandy crank. If its not a difficult process to pull the crank, I dont mind doing it...
  4. Would it be a worthwhile upgrade on my 09 Giant Alias?
  5. Thanks Martin, Great read! I used to clean the seals on my 450 after a hard ride with a Xray cut into a piece that i could scrape the dirt out. Usually the dirt was stopping the seal from sealing. If its not too much PT, perhaps I should just pull it apart. I was hoping to at least get a 1000km on the bike before I upgrade the front. Seems that the upgrade is definitely necessary.
  6. where is the "like" button to this post ?? thanks dude
  7. Thanks Matty, Apparently the bike was serviced not too long ago. remove the lowers and do as you suggested anyhow
  8. After riding my bike the last week, mainly dusty and off-road conditions, my one fork leg has got some dust/grease residue on it. Almost like my dirtbike would but a just a little more with dust packed on it. Is this normal for the forks? check the pic.

Never mind, I was just told that with even moderate XC riding the above bikes wont last and those Dart 2 front shocks are horrible.

There is a "like new" 21inch Avalanche GT2.0 forsale for like R4500-00. Should I put in an offer of R3k? Perhaps its could be a nice little starter bike with money available for longer travel forks.?

Thanks for the reply guys. There is a guy selling his Reign on here with upgrades for 13k and then without for about R8k Would it be that much better spending the extra 4k now than upgrading it piece by piece? Anybody know much about the KOna Coiler bikes? They look like they can take some abuse?

While not a downhill or a XC bike, a guy called me this morning about his TREK Y-Carbon after I sent him a mail about it asking for more info. The add reads: Mens Large Size TREK Carbon Y- Frame Dual Suspension Mountain Bike with handlebar-mounted rear suspension lock-out. Deore XT components SPINERGY Super Lite Wheels http://img1.classistatic.com/cps/kj/110123/979r1/0901bm4_20.jpeg He wants 4.5k.

great bike, what about something like the GT IT-1? Had great reviews as a Freeride / DH bike? Even though that gear setup looks a little weird! http://bmxmuseum.com/image/gtit1_lg.jpg
