  1. Thanks Balt. I'm thinking it would work on my Ragley - which says max rear tyre size 2.4, but guys have squeezed a nobby nic 2.8 on them before. I'll be running a foamo in the rear so hopefully that would help. But first i need QR end caps for my wider wheel - currently running a spare 19mm internal wheel at the back :<
  2. Anyone run a WTB Convict / Breakout 2.5 combo? I'm thinking of running that on my hardtail, that big 2.5 on the rear will add some comfort. Just not sure how they'll work on 24mm internal rims paired with a non boost revelation
  3. 650b pike dual position RC 120 psi 5 clicks LSC 2 clicks slower than middle rebound 1 token 100kg geared up 2014 trance, 66* HA @160mm
  4. This all worked out very well for me, your pike was one hell of an upgrade from my fox32 ctd evo ... and the wheels from 19mm internal XC wheels on the trance. Chucked a volume spacer in the air spring, dropped the pressure from 125 psi suggested for my weight to 95 psi and added 5 clicks LSC and it's awesome. Soaks up the bumps and I think I've only bottomed it once. Then again coming from a 140mm fox32 evo maybe my baseline experience was low haha.
  5. What an awesome race today! My second long distance race, did 3:28 which for me is awesome coming from a 6:20 94.7 nightmare a few months ago.
  6. I got maxxis Aggressors front and back on my hardtail. I dig em!
  7. It's Darwinism in action. A helmet saved me from serious serious injury on two occasions last year - the last one left me siezuring and in hospital for 5 nights. I shudder to think what would have happened if I had faceplanted that rock without a helmet!
  8. My wife almost rode into a puffy on the trails near Kynsna on the weekend. Heard her scream, saw her hightail it outta there! Instant technical skills boost, lol. When I went past the same spot, it had moved off.
  9. First one done and dusted! 6:20 for me from a 9:32 start, 5:19 for my wife, same start. I was cramping like mad and visited every massage station from Killarney bend on the M1 to the finish! Ha-ha I'm never gonna hear the end of this from wifey
  10. That excitement vs talent level thing gets me all the time! Landed me in hospital twice this year.
  11. Picked this up from Amazon. Came in at about 3k. That's a win in my book
  12. WTB Vigilante 27.5 x 2.3 front, WTB Trail Boss 27.5 x 2.25 rear on my trance Maxxis Aggressor 27.5 x 2.3 front and rear on my hardtail.
  13. I'd be keen for a 45mm
  14. Thanks, and damn :/
  15. Read the last three pages and didn't see, ate helmets (like a super 2r) still at 25%?
  16. Thanks mate. Went for wtb vigilante 2.3 up front and wtb trail boss 2.25 TCS tough at the rear. Awesome combo. For the hardtail I'm thinking of trying the maxxis aggressor up front and move the vredestein black panther xtrac to the rear
  17. Hey guys, just read thru the whole thread and still a bit unsure. So here is the deal. I ride a 2014 trance and a 2013 silverback slade. Both with vredestein black panther 2.2, the slade has the xtrac up front. Run them around 2 bar (I'm 90kg) and I find the front washes out, fell on the slade and don't have much confidence in the tight stuff on the trance at the moment. Felt very sketchy at northern farms this weekend. I rode with a 2.25 ardent front and 2.1 sb8 rear on my silverback sola and thay felt way more grippy. Suggestions for an front tyre that inspires confidence on singletrack in the corners please? I think I might also be running the tyres a bit hard.
  18. Hi guys, new here, been registered for a while and lurking in the classifieds section. Bought a bike from there last week so thought it would be a good time to post. i ride: a scott speedster 10 for the road a silverback sola 4 29er for the xc stuff a silverback slade 2 650b for the more trail type stuff.
