  3. haha.. even me! They only arriving here sunday and I'm away from saturday till next week saturday
  4. Thanks for this... I got my propel second hand and I think it's also the early 2015 model... Going to see if these breaks make a difference otherwise it's back to 23c tyres...
  5. I'm broke :/
  6. I'm broke :/
  7. Haha ya ya... You got to jump on the band wagon to have your own opinion ????
  8. So I've ordered one set of the new model Giant Brakes from Cape Town. Spoke to the guy there (Jason) and he was very helpful. Apparently the arms on the Giant Brakes (SL Speed Control) are longer than the arms on my current brakes that came with the frame (the TRP brakes). I only ordered one pair because a) They are stupidly priced @ R995 for one set and b) My front brake hasn't had any issues... yet. I was assured that if they don't fit and I have the same issue I can return them for a refund. Will let you know what the outcome is when the brakes arrive. leka
  9. Yeha I had a look at this... I'm not sure what the inner rim width of these Token C55's are though... will find out from the dealer but I reckon its somewhere in that range of 25mm tyres... He could also have a different brake model to mine...
  10. Not sure... but the 25c Conti GP 4000s II tyres I have on the rims are indicated @ 25 x 700... so assuming thats meant to mean compatability?
  11. Riding on Token C55's... 55mm deep carbon clinchers, 700c
  12. As far as I've researched the main reason for people switching to Fouriers brakes on the propel is becuase of the fact that the breaks are ***... it hasnt even been the issue of break cable rub. It really doesnt do giant any good making an awesome frame and finishing it off with mega average components...
  13. Yeah I'll definitely do that if I can't find a cheaper source of brakes... But the 25c and 23c tyre doesn't differ much in height... Even with the 23's there's not much space
  14. I saw it and the only permanent solution was replacing the brake set unfortunately... Hoping some one reads this and has a cheaper than 2.5k option for me :/
  15. Yeah I will try... I have the TRP model... You have the TRP shoes and the SL Speed Control Arms... My whole set is TRP and when I do adjust and get some sort of clearance its nowhere near as much daylight as you have! Annoyed and jealous
  16. Not keen on spending 2.5k for brakes :/ Giant should send me brakes for free...
  17. Dont be put off yet... The frame is unreal. The brakes are an issue if they are an issue... (if you get my drift)... Some people have issues and some dont... and after plenty of reading I still havent found a convincing article or report that states exactly what the problem is. Some have had no problems even with 28mm tyres!
  18. Please do take a pic of your brakes... I am aware that there are different models of the propel v-brakes...
  19. Yeah after plenty of reading I figured it would be the only option... other than adjusting the brakes every week :/ Really annoying that Giant didnt think about this...
  20. Hey Guys, I have just put 25mm tyres on my propel (2015 Propel Advanced SL 2). Problem is that when the breaks are under load the cable of the back V-brake rubs on the tyre. I only noticed this the other day... a few weeks after putting the tyres on... I have done plenty research and it seems that this is a genuine issue with the propel frame. It makes little sense to me that Giant would make such an advanced frame and not provision for bigger tyres? Anyway... I have taken the bike to my local bike worskshop and we tried to adjust the breaks to allow for more clearnace. It seemed to work, leaving a paper thin slice of daylight between the tyre and the cable when the brakes are under load. A few rides later I was back at sqaure one... So my first question is doesn anyone have a solution to this problem? I saw the Alpecin team ride the same frame but they have installed Fouriers V-brakes on the riders bikes and they aslo ride 25mm vittoria. Google says the Fouriers breaks provide more clearance that the standard Giant TRP V-brake. So my second question is does anyone know where I can source Fouriers brakes... Hope someone can help... this is starting to annoy me. Cheers!
