  1. So I drive from Durban to Cape Town, pay for accommodation and have the test. If it is positive I cant ride even though there is a chance of false positives with these tests. Hmmmmm
  2. Same story, I ordered tyres from Bikeinn. They arrived in SA on 27 March and are still in the container according to the agent I spoke to at the Post Office. I am not holding my breath????
  3. Unfortunately I don’t have more info, the owner of the LBS might have but I am just putting it out there so Hubbers are aware. I will check with the owner
  4. We are all aware of the looting that has taken place in the past few days but I have just heard that my local bike shop (LBS) was looted on Monday. The shop has been stripped of every bike and component and the shop is just an empty shell. Please be on the lookout for suspicious looking items offered for sale on the various platforms and report to SAPS. Any other suggestions???
  5. My 2 cents worth after having done a solo 3 weeks in the Karoo and 2 weeks in the Cedarberg I will definitely stick to a hardtail mtb with front shocks. The roads in these areas are rough and the corrugations are horrible so a rigid fork would IMHO be out.
  6. Agree 100%. Completed a 2 week tour from Riviersonderend into the Klein Karoo which included the Swartberg and Rooiberg passes on a heavy Silverback 26er MTB fitted with rear rack and panniers, I was very happy for the front shock on the descents which were rough and corrugated. A rigid fork would have been hell
  7. My 1983 Alan has been with me since new and has not been used very much lately. I decided to give her a good polish with the intention of selling her. She cleaned up really well and after a short ride she changed my mind. She is not for sale! Still so smooth and responsive and in my eyes a real Italian stunner.
  8. Baldy wants to go to Cape Town, not Durban,!
  9. I found this on a site called Disraeligears, I will have to try and get an accurate measurement. It is part Number 2 on the diagram. Thanks for your help
  10. Hi all, only just found this forum and it is great. I have a 1983 Alan with the oval top tube which I am still using on my home trainer. Was hoping someone can help with the rear derailleur. It is a Suntour Superbe and is missing the attaching stud. I would be willing to buy the whole derailleur.
  11. Alan road bike from 1983. Still an Italian beauty

At 63 my thoughts exactly. I am planning a long tour on an ebike. Needing advice if anyone has done this.
