  1. I wouldn't mind a "peace" of single track! lol! you meant piece! And no there are guys doing it, they are working their butts off to get that done, they are in 24/7 meetings with Forestry/nature conservation/local governments and land owners. There are no financial backing because economic times like these does not allow them, cycling shops are struggling to survive. The problems run much deeper than people know!
  2. Reffering to Pro's like Gee, Greg, Gwin, Blenki, Danny in fact all the top riders, go have a look at their training then you will feel like the fat slob. One can get fit yeah and not be a fat slob but no one can not get more balls to do a 15m gap jump. You have it or you don't. But you can improve your skill level! Have you ever been to a DH race? How many fat guys did you see coz I dont see any? Shuttles are only there on races, rest of the time there is no land access for vehicles.
  3. Pretty funny that you say that coz all the Pro DH guys do XC and AM as base training. They are more on the XC bike than on the DH bike. All the DH guys I know either have a XC bike or a AM bike which is their weekly ride, then the DH bike comes out for weekends!
  4. First of all, who said I am riding DH? You assume way too much. Second, we are a bunch of guys building together, XC, DH, AM, DJ and even a BMX'er or two and a skate boarder! So for your snippy comments, there you go, we are not all Downhill riders. Third, we repair more XC tracks than DH tracks, the amount of XC riders we have here use the trails much more than any other type of rider. So all we do is XC maintenance out of our own pocket and time! We can all get along but it is attitudes like yours that gets us nowhere! When last have you even said thanks to anyone you see doing trail repairs! The majority of XC riders don't even greet when they go past you! That is very welcoming to someone who has been working hard getting a trail ridable! I dont have a holier than thou attitude, I ride with everybody and any type of riding, I love riding, building and even watching. I just get so angry with these arrogant and ignorant riders who think the world belongs to them! I have once watched the amount riders using the "no pay" entrance at jonkers and sadly it was all XC riders. Come to build days and or go on private trail maintenance walks then you will meet the guys and see we are all a friendly bunch of guys!
  5. Getting a bit bitchy there hey? And no it is not like that, I have to start on lame tracks to get better, I didn't just jump to technical tracks and held everyone up behind me. Start with something your skill level and then go up. Why do you think we see so many tracks being closed because people with no skills try the big stuff and then injure themselves just to write news paper articles and sue the land owners for their own stupidity. (Zevenwacght, Majik Forest, Stellenbosch trails are just a few examples.) You get so fedup with XC riders when you just built a nice new berm and are still next to the trail working (after you put a branch infront of it to close it) when a XC rider comes right over the bush and through the berm destroying the wet soil! Then he turns around looks at his muddy ass and then starts crapping you out????? I mean serious! you would also be cheesed off! So as to you saying come up with respected ideas? Sure here is a few! 1. Let the XC riders come to build days to repair trails(no matter which trail) 2. Trail signs showing one way trails only! There is no such thing as 2 way trails! 3. Respect the trails you have been riding on which have been built by AM/FR/DH riders. They put in hard work to get them the way they are! Lastly, I don't do the forum fighting thing sorry for you! I go home after work with a spade in my hand and go rebuild the trails you enjoy! Peace out brother!
  6. I beg to differ. Our level of XC tracks are not even close to world standards(not condition but on a technical level). I go ride my xc bike with xc kit on a xc single track and then I am still frustrated with guys cycling up the wrong way of the single track or they go so slow and moan about how messed up the track was(when it is perfectly fine).
  7. It's more a fact that when XC riders see a braking bump or a rut in a turn they think it's in horrible condition because our perception of XC in SA is jeep track riding for 40km and when you see a bridge you unclip and get off and walk it. Have a look at world cup XC coures...far far far from what an XC course looks like in SA! They need to wake up, grow balls and improve their skills.
  8. No Bennet (Ace of Spades) does maintenance and building there. Volunteers help him since there are no money available and he can't pay workers from his own pocket.
  9. This just once again proves my point, the DH guys are few but always willing to help and friendly and do all the hard work themselves when it comes to building. The XC guys never wanna build, always complain and never greet you! Long live DH and AM even though we have no money and no sponsors or huge events and are always the "bad" apples!
  10. No They are in actual fact doing trail maintenance but I can clearly see that you are not a trail builder or know anything about trails. Trail maintenance are being done in winter when the soil is wet and workable. In summer times when it is as dry as we have been having this winter you damage the trails more when trying to work with them. That is normal and you can see that in all trails, G-Spot, Bluegums and so on. There are some big things happening with trails in Jonkershoek and things won't be as they were with MTO running the show. Anyway, ride the trails as they are for now, it will improve your skills. MTB is not about having it all perfect(thats why we have road cycling)! MTB is about adapting to the conditions and that includes weather, trail condition, and other trail users! Rather say thanks to what we as volunteers do to keep the trails rideable. Your R25 per ride is just for land access, trail building comes out of very kind people who lift up the spade so you can ride cool trails!
  11. Here it is, was on it the other day, feels good but coming from a DH background those wheels still just feels super huge! Would love to see a 26" version with 150mm travel!
  12. This is pointless, coz I have seen DH riders riding lycra on tracks like Champery and Schladming doing some of the maddest tracks ever and then the guys at the Cape Epic also in lycra doing long endurance rides on short travel bikes! Toughness is not being measured by what clothes you wear! I ride Lycra when I go XC, Trail shorts when I go AM and DH shorts when I go DH! It's the way you ride that makes you who you are! Respect to the dude in lycra on his 29'er doing a 10m roadgap, and respect to the dude who does it in DH gear! Ride to enjoy it, teach those with less skill what you know and learn from the ones better than you!
  13. I think this says enough! http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Sequence-Saturday-Tour-De-France.html
  14. The ever eluding G-spot! Glad you guys could find it and enjoy it! We keep on building there and making new lines! Enjoy!
