  1. Have the candy 2 and have ridden them for over 4 years with no issues. Ill never ride spd's again ...
  2. Guys , really appreciate the response !! many thanks!
  3. Hi guys, any advice on this? need to get one before Friday. Leavin on holiday and would really like to take our 20month old for some rides. Also need a helmet. Where can i find in the JHB region?
  4. Thanks I'm on the third one now ... Will check chain link flex and also the quick link type perhaps
  5. Just serviced my bike and fit a new xtr chain on a xt groupset. The chain was replaced before it was due ito wear and tear, so I didn't expect need to replace cassette ... Now, on a stand all the gear shifting is perfect, but on a ride as soon as a add tension to the chain, in the granny gear small ring combo, the chain sounds lik when you are riding in sabie during muddy raining season and then the occasional chainsuck occurs. Gear setup and cable tension is 100%, so all I can think must be new casette ... Yes? But if so why if the chain was replaced before due time?
  6. I have elixir 3 and they work amazingly - if anything is going to go its tyre traction before these boyz fade - that said I'm not someone who uses the breaks too often on a downhill
  7. Saw the start of the thread and didnt read all 10 pages - i have a fram, think 19inch, can confirm. Felt Q220 alu - interested? PM me if so. Cool, cheers.
  8. Not sure if he is an agent, but I would send it to Johan Bornman (yellowsaddle.co.za) regardless. HE is mr Fork...
  9. Hi ChrisH - thanks it looks great. Question though (open for all to comment please!!??) - on the Braamfontein spruit : "Security Cyclists have been consistently and violently attacked along the Spruit since 1997. Never ride this route alone or even in pairs" ... what type of data has been used factually? The hub generally states that its safe (always in relative terms) to cycle the spruit ... I cycle there quite often in pairs, from the sunninghill area up to delta park ... if any hubbers are aware of recent incidents please let us know? Thanks guys
  10. Good morning guys - does anyone know of a charity organisation that's in need of second hand cycling equipement ? I.e. cycling clothes in good condition no longer used, bike spares etc ?

    Sickness

Same issue here ... little sleep + stress at work + hard training (especially start of season) = recipe for some sick leave. What i have read in health magz (and seems to work) is ensuring you drink a good recovery shake after hard rides to help curb the strain your body has just taken...
  12. Leave the tyre to dry completely, then as Topwine says, start rubbing it off. Out of interest, did u inflate with bomb?
  13. I ride 2 infront and same or just below rear ... rear can be run lower because the front can burp if too low...
  14. Had no issues with Specialized captain control in Front and Maxxis Crossmark LUST in the back ... will use same this year.
  15. Well done for taking up the sport, for which we will from now on assume is cycling I wouldnt worry too much about how you should be doing, just starting out. Frankly you should be sucking. As the other hubbers commented it depends on quite a few factors, mostly importantly being the terain (i.e. was it all hills / flat roud / tar road / dirt road ). Other factors, road bike / mtb, where you chilling to trying to go flat out ? I suggest just continue with your rides and then eventually build up to comfortably ride say 20-30km and then enter a race. It sounds very daunting ("race") but there always seems to be someone less fit than you at these events so dont be affraid. This will then be a good opportunity to assess how you stack up against other cyclest in terms of your ranking in the race. Later you will start to be able to judge your own improvement based on (1) improvement in your heart rate, (2) improvement in time over same distance (need at least 20km to be meaningfull in my opinion), (3) you will get to know your average speed over different terrains (i.e. improving from say 10km/h to 15-18km/h or more over general mtb terrain ... dont know road speeds) Hope this helps
