  1. With the upcoming holidays, requirement to put in some hours and likelyhood that you are without your Epic partner or mates, I thought it would be usefull for guys and gals putting in some distance (Epic and non-epic), to share what their holiday and riding plans are. I’ll start by sharing that we are heading to Umhlanga 15th to 22nd. I’m doing 5hours on the 16th and then 2 hours in the week on non interval days. Anyone wanting to join, let me know? Cheers
  2. Thanks for all your help chaps. Here is the result: 113km, 1650m Managed to do almost all on gravel (using road shoulders where possible) so the only tar was a bit through hermanus, bot rivier and franschhoek pass. Route: Stanford, Hermanus, up hemel & aarde using the valey trails (red route), T-junctions with karwyderskraal road, bot rivier (can go around left or right, i chose right), van der stel pass until it becomes tar, then just after hook a right onto gravel until, follow board to FH, tjunctions with villiers road at teewaterkloof, franschhoek pass. Amazing ride and start to new year!
  3. 110km by road, so expect there and thereabouts with the backroads
  4. Hi guys, I need to do a MTB training ride from Stanford to Franschhoek over the holidays. Gravel preferred over tar. Any suggestions of back roads will be appreciated. Cheers
  5. Have the candy 2 and have ridden them for over 4 years with no issues. Ill never ride spd's again ...
  6. Guys , really appreciate the response !! many thanks!
  7. Hi guys, any advice on this? need to get one before Friday. Leavin on holiday and would really like to take our 20month old for some rides. Also need a helmet. Where can i find in the JHB region?
  8. Thanks I'm on the third one now ... Will check chain link flex and also the quick link type perhaps
  9. Just serviced my bike and fit a new xtr chain on a xt groupset. The chain was replaced before it was due ito wear and tear, so I didn't expect need to replace cassette ... Now, on a stand all the gear shifting is perfect, but on a ride as soon as a add tension to the chain, in the granny gear small ring combo, the chain sounds lik when you are riding in sabie during muddy raining season and then the occasional chainsuck occurs. Gear setup and cable tension is 100%, so all I can think must be new casette ... Yes? But if so why if the chain was replaced before due time?
  10. I have elixir 3 and they work amazingly - if anything is going to go its tyre traction before these boyz fade - that said I'm not someone who uses the breaks too often on a downhill
  11. Saw the start of the thread and didnt read all 10 pages - i have a fram, think 19inch, can confirm. Felt Q220 alu - interested? PM me if so. Cool, cheers.
  12. Not sure if he is an agent, but I would send it to Johan Bornman (yellowsaddle.co.za) regardless. HE is mr Fork...
  13. Hi ChrisH - thanks it looks great. Question though (open for all to comment please!!??) - on the Braamfontein spruit : "Security Cyclists have been consistently and violently attacked along the Spruit since 1997. Never ride this route alone or even in pairs" ... what type of data has been used factually? The hub generally states that its safe (always in relative terms) to cycle the spruit ... I cycle there quite often in pairs, from the sunninghill area up to delta park ... if any hubbers are aware of recent incidents please let us know? Thanks guys
