  1. Ecobound are not interested in the safety or health of anyone. Having had numerous email discussions with them their attitude is really arrogant and supercilious to say the least. Opening 2021 entries for August before even confirming the 2020 event was going to happen showed their total lack of concern for anyone except their pockets. If I had wanted to do a day ride I would enter a host of other events but the whole night time experience is what makes TB special. Some event organizers are doing their utmost to give riders the experience they paid for but others just don’t seem to get the picture that we are what make them successful. Vote with my wallet in future and go with those that care. Bye bye TB was good while you offered an experience that few others did but another 40C ride in a valley just isn’t what I wanted.

34 oval is the way to go. Offers the speed of a 36 and the climbing ability of a 32.
  3. Little bit of KY and pop it in. Just dont fart while you riding.
  4. Lindani have some really testing trails. If you want climbing they have it, if you want technical they have it. Also have chilled routes for easy riding.
  5. Another hubber in the mix! Looking forward to it, will be the longest I've ever done. Physically more or less ready, mentally really amped and keen to go. Packing and repacking and deciding on ammo box contents for the last week.
  6. I recently had the great joy of severely cracking my Anthem X frame to the extent that the top tube and seat post were no longer talking to one another. The Giant rep took one look at the damage and replaced the 2016 frame and swing-arm with a 2018 edition at no charge. Now that's what I call after sales service. The new frame is much stiffer than the old one which makes riding a whole lot more fun now. Thanks Giant - you have a customer for life Now riding Sled V2
  7. Interesting to read the various perspectives of the event. Did the half both days and thoroughly enjoyed the route, except for the wind. There may not have been much single track but the jeep track was testing enough. One of those events that you have to just enjoy the spectacular panoramic views from the tops and have fun. Ashburton have a good mix in their bag of events - done the whole series of half marathons this year and with Kaapschehoop left to go can honestly say that I have had fun on all of them. Just need to crack a nod to the VIP tent now to make me totally happy.
  8. I have one free entry that I am not using as I have already entered. Send me a mail on technical@depmanufacturing.co.za and I will send you the necessary info. Entries close tomorrow so be quick. And its gone in less than 30 minutes. The hubber prowlers are sharp today
  9. Still one of the best rides in the Gauteng area. Safe, fun and loads of options. Just a pity they don't open for Sports Parade on Wednesday afternoons! And while Ian is lurking - night rides would be awesome. I will keep nagging.......
  10. I have one going - work interfered with my cycling again. Call me on 0825622230 Mike
  11. Apologies for the double post - seems my stutter is getting bad!
  12. The route profiles are up on the website now. If you did Sabie then this is much easier. The views from the top are quite spectacular and unless you are a serious racing snake well worth the stop to enjoy.

As I've said before - those that cheat are only cheating themselves. It pisses me off when they do try and make out like they heroes but fall short when asked for their splits or a Strava snapshot. Aah well - lets see them on stage races or point to point where there are no loops. Bet there will be some story about mechanicals that slowed them down. My conscience wouldn't let me do it - its just wrong but then again there are people out there in high places that dont have one anyway so we follow by example.....

Pain City was an interesting variation on how to see the same hill from three different angles! Nice flowing route - would love to have said fast but I was just wasn't on A game form for some reason. Well done organisers - after the rains they had some serious work to sort the track out as well as they did. Now to learn some road etiquette before next Sunday, don't want to piss the roadies off too much!!

Probably the most technical part is to avoid all the other riders! Last year the loop into Northern Farms took us down and along the river which was mostly single track with a few overtaking spots. Starting late will put you into Steyn City in the heat of the day which is a killer. The long slog out of SC near the end sorts out the riders from weekend warriors, from what I hear it will be very similar to last years route. Last nights rain will make it a mud splash along the river which will be fun.
