  1. Lol! Exactly my thoughts! It was my first Durban race, and was told by everyone that it was easy compared to midlands, PE or East London. Look out for a PB, they said! Having done 05:18 in Midlands, I hoping for a sub 5!!!! Well... not exactly... I AGAIN got a spot on 05:18. I blame the wind.... and transitions from HELL. Lol! Seriously, it was a good race. No complaints. Well done to everybody who completed, or even just pitched up.... there was a lot of open bike spots.
  2. As said, yesterday was slower than usual, but can confirm that it could be (partly) due to the fact that the swim was NOT 1900m. Everybody I know, including some past pro's, clocked in around 2100m. So that's around 10% more, making for an extra 10% in time too. It was fun though!

Good afternoon and happy new year! Over the past few rides, I've been experiencing a lot of punctures. I want to buy new rims and am considering tubeless, any opinions?

I did the ultra 70.3, the race was tough! Either way I enjoyed every minute of suffering:) for my first 70.3 I managed a 5:18... I'm quite chuffed and I'll definitely do it again.

Can anybody recommend in and around Alberton/JHB south where I can practice open water swimming, preferably with a group? I currently do go to cradle moon and bas lake on occasion but hoping to find something closer to home, or at least as part of a group/ buddy system.

nice bike .... however forgot to mention I would like a non tt bike as I will be using it for normal road races leading up to the event and I'm a short ass size 52, so the frame would be too big. But yes second hand is an option provided it's a bargain and in good condition.

Or is there a bike I should consider that's not on my list?

Thinking of buying a new bike in prep for my first IM 70.3 2018 and full IM 2019. I currently have a Scott speedster s20 (aluminum, 105 components) which has done me well so far. I've been looking at Merida sculturre 5000 2016, giant tcr 105 comp and trek emonda s5- all in my budget of sub 30k. Any opinions regarding these bikes, good or bad? Is this better than what I've got besides the frame, Or is bumping the budget up a bit worth the spend?

Thank you for your reply, I've been told that the water is of bad quality, did you have any stomach issues after the event? ...either way I've booked and keen to do the event.

Good morning everyone I'm in the process of buying my first wetsuit. I've narrowed the options down to xterra Vortex or vector pro x3 and orca s5. Currently I'm only doing sprints but next year I'll be doing standard distance leading up to 70.3. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
