  2. I picked up a mini pump on my ride this morning on the new single track on the red route at the pine forest. Pm me if its yours.
  3. Its a sad sad day for South Africa! R.I.P, a truely South African hero, legend and Ambasador. As said by a previous poster "You will be missed but never forgotten."
  4. Just a heads up. After completing my ride yesterday I found under my sock's seam. There is some patches with long grass on the green route and guess I picked it up there. Just check when you are done riding, tick fever is no ones friend.
  5. Anybody have any pics of the mud pools we sailed over. Saw a few people going down into them. Quite messy for the back markers as all the wet turf became goo ans sludge for those behind them.
  6. I think it all boils down to your motivation of cycling together. I cycle with my wife and enjoy it lots. I am currently stronger than her, but on the uphills i hover close to her not going more than 15 meters away from her either doing high cadence or heavier gears to stay close . On the single track i will go ahead and then she follows my line and growing in confidence and therefore we can go faster and faster. We even do races together as our own "team" sticking together all the way. For me its being with her and enjoying the ride with each other that is most important. We both stopped cycling for over 10 years and are now getting back into it therefore our fitness levels are not to good, but slowly together we are getting there - together. The advantage in our side is that we both started from a relatively unfit level and are building it up together. My advice would be to talk about what the other spouse "wants form the ride" and if you the stronger one then to scale down to their pace and make sure that they enjoy and grow in the sport. If you do not get what you need from that ride get a riding partner for the other days and burn you muscles there. Creating tension on the sports field might make life difficult at home as well.
  7. Keep us updated. Variety is the spice of life and i am always game for more rides in the STB area. What an awesome place to ride!
  8. Wow thanks for the original post ngala24. I am going to USA for a trip and might bring back a bike as their big clearance sales are on at the moment. Looking at the customs info it seems I will have to pay 15% duty tax for the complete bike. However i see one of the previous posts mentions that if the looses parts can be assembled to make a bike thats then the tax is applicable. Here is my question. I am traveling with my wife, if i would to give her the wheels, seat and handlebars and some components, and i take the frame fork and what is left will that work to bypass the complete bike scenario? As far as i could see there was no duties for the loose components. I am trying to work out my budget to see how much i have to reserve and by how much i can squeeeeeeeez my budget for the bike
