  1. Looking for a few ladies to ride with around Parkview/Emmarentia area. Beginner-intermediate level. Road or MTB. Are there any groups around?
  2. Hey guys I was looking for an all round bike that I can race enduro with but from what I have seen the sensor comp seems to be a good bike especially from a price point. I'm a bit worried about a used bike just incase I snap the frame it doesn't have a warranty
  3. Join us for a fun 32km night ride around Pretoria, and then a light dinner afterwards. For full details click here Time: 17:30 for 18:00 Starting and ending from Grounded @ Work, on the corner of 24th Ave and Pieerneef Str in Pretoria, we will start the ride just after at 18:10, making our way via the Union Buildings, and then past Loftus, to Groenkloof, going over the hill by the telkom tower, then back through hatfield, over Tom Jenkins, and then take a loop through the suburbs, finishing back at Grounded, where light snacks and drinks will be waiting. A quick 15 minute presentation about Adventure Cycles and the events on offer for 2021, before we give out a couple of prizes (Best Dressed/Hairest Legs/Brightest Lights etc), and then enjoy a delicious dinner and some drinks together before heading home. If it proves succesful, we will host one of these a month for the Pretoria Riders. Booking essential - Please use the link here to get your ticket.
  4. Evening. Anyone racing the 2021 joburg classic this Saturday. Looking for a gpx file for the route if anyone has created. Pls hmu. The route seems to have changed from last year btw. Thanks.
  5. I had an awesome experience this past weekend. Broke my pedal while away on holiday in Marloth Park. Thought I would take a chance and commented on a local mountain biker's ride on Strava, asking if he perhaps had a spare set. He ended up driving 10km to meet me half way with a set of pedals and refused payment. Mountain bikers are awesome people Thanks Willie Horn from Komatipoort
  6. Any one find a pair of Rudy Project sunglasses at Northern Farm on Monday, 22 March, or later? They have a silver & white frame with photochromic lenses. Thanks.
  7. Hi All We are hosting a Classic & Vintage ride on the first Sunday of each month starting at Makiti in the Cradel. 7:00 for 7:15. It is very much a social ride and distance as per participants desires. The aim is really to get classic enthusiasts together to show their bikes and an opportunity to discuss our passion. Please join us, even if you don't yet have a classic bike. Thanks Greg Chamberlin 079 609 3555
  8. Average rider (strength) seeks weekend group ride in the surrounding areas. Any suggestions for this weekend? Thanks! JP
  9. I'm doing a poll on the preferred team size for a team time trial race, taking into account social distancing rules and regulations, and the limited size of heads at an event. Mass participation events are most certainly under pressure and unlikely to take place until the pandemic is behind us. Assuming a team trial event, similar to the MalutiD90 and the DC, would be the way forward, what size team would you deem ideal for one of two distances (100Km and 160Km)? Type your reply in the comments section below, remember to subscribe to this channel and click on the bell icon to get notifications each time new content is posted.
  10. edit: link to the event registration is open - click here. Some club mates have been talking about starting a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly Crit race on a short circuit course on a Friday night. The venue will be on a new section of tar SE of Rand Airport;1.72Km long and can be race both clockwise and counterclockwise;18m of elevation gain per lap - it's flat, but there will be "out the saddle" efforts twice per lap as you negotiate the two 180-degree turns (1 hair-pin and 1 mdeium sized traffic circle;Daurtion will be 30 mins + 1 lap - maximum of 4 groups per night;Estimated lap time of 2:00 - 2:30, depending on the group, giving 12-15 laps before the bell lap.Initial talks have been around a Friday evening as the full route is lit, but not sure what the interest will be vs a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. We'll start on a Friday evening, as planned, and then see how it gains traction. Seeding? What's that... if you get dropped, suck it up and try harder... or... drop a group the next time. Rules can be added as we go, eg. repeat winners can be pushed up a group, and vice versa for last few places. An entry fee may need to be charged to cover a medical team and toilet hire (the closest shops are about 2-3Km away, We'd prefer to award points for position and then perhaps have one end of season prize giving. As we grow, this can become more formal. No officials needed, and this won't be sanctioned. The costs to set this up is unnecessary, and is more about giving those interested in participating a chance to hone their bike handling skills, do some HIIT workouts under race conditions and FUN - the rules are simple: Safety first - it's the riders' responsibility to police the guys drifting/changing lanes;First one over the line wins - he/she gets to brag about it until the next race; The race starts on time, and only stopped if weather conditions make it unsafe - we'll use our experience from running our mass participation event. I'll post a link to the video soon - driving it by car doesn't do justice to the effort required to complete a lap or two or 12-15. What else? Let me know in the comments below
  11. Our first event last month was a great success. We are hosting another Night Ride, from the same venue, but we have a new route this time. We will still pass the Union Buildings, but wont be going up to the telkom tower, opting for a more leuisurely route throough the suburbs, with a few more MTB specific sections this time. Afterwards there will be snacks and wine, and we can enjoy a bit of a chat, and there will be a few lucky draw prizes too. Space is limited, and as many found out last month, the event fills up pretty fast. Make sure you book your spot now, to avoid missing out. click here to book a spot

  19. Hi guys, I haven't been in centurion long. I come from Blormfontein where you could cycle +- 30km and end up at a nice view. I find that it's different in Centurion. I have to make an event of it and either go to Big Red Barn or Wolwespruit etc. It feels like I am confined to the city streets during the week. And as a mountain biker, that sucks. Are there any nice (and safe) mtb routes one can give a go before or after work without having to load my bike in my car? Thanks
  20. Unfortunately misplaced my Smirk mask while on the Spruit :,( Potentially somewhere by the top of the single track in Delta Park to the bottom of the jump run.
  21. So, I like this cycling thing quite a bit. With the GP Road Race Champs just up the road from me yesterday I decided to make the effort to go attend. We pitched at 15h00, thinking we will see some serious excitement as this would be right towards the business end of the various races. Firstly, the attendance seemed very sad, just a couple of Gazebo's strewn along Soutpansbergweg for families supporting their husbands, fathers, mothers, sisters etc taking part. I have since just finally accepted that cycling is not a spectator sport, at least not for people physically attending events, even on a short course setup as we had yesterday. You see the cyclists for 10s every lap, with no idea what has transpired on the rest of the lap. I had no idea which riders were in the race and where they were placed. We left after standing around for about 30mins. Somebody needs to seriously consider something new to get non-cyclists excited about these events. Mount some Go-Pros on the Race Commissionaire cars and have someone narrating the action from the car as the race unfolds. Stream all of this to Youtube and people might actually know what is going on out there. This morning, I have not been able to find out what happened in terms of results. I found Reinardt JvR on Strava and see in his description that he finished 3rd. Other than that, nothing. And then on another tangent, can somebody please explain the whole structure of the Provincial champs and how they feed into nationals? Someone like Nicholas Dlamini and Darryl Impey who currently sits in Aus, do they get a free pass to nationals etc?
  22. Hi Hubbers, I thought I'd post our new TOKEN Cycling Club weekend ride schedule here in case anyone's looking for a group to join. We're also looking for a few ride marshals to assist with these rides. There is free club membership and kit on offer, because we know there's "nothing for nothing" :-) (You do not need to be a member to join our group rides) For more info on the club you can visit our website https://tokencycling.co.za/token-cycling-and-multisport-club/ TOKEN Cycling Club Rides leaving from Cedar Square in Fourways / Craigavon Saturday (Leaving at 07h00 until 31 August 2019) Rides will follow a roughly circular route through the Cradle of Humankind where traffic is minimal and there are generous shoulders and cycle lanes for most of the routes. There are several route options for you to choose from dependent on your mood and cycling ability. There will be a re-group point at the traffic circle at the top of the “Valverde Climb” roughly 20km into the ride, and then another at Bidon Bistro near Kloofzicht at 53km / 70km depending which route you’re following. The support vehicle, when applicable, will follow route option 1, and will at all times ride behind the last club member on the day. The route distances will vary between 78km and 107km, and 1 000 – 1 600m of climbing, and you are free to decide for your self on the day which route / group you’d like to ride with. Sunday (Leaving at 07h30 until 31 August 2019) We have only 1 official club route on a Sunday, but again due to the nature of riding in the Cradle of Humankind you will be able to shorten your ride should you prefer to do so while still being looked after by your fellow club members and the support vehicle when applicable, The Sunday route is 82km with just over 1 000m of climbing.
  23. Hi everyone, I am looking for a road cycling group in the Montana area. Currently cycling on my own but want to join a club or group to cycle more often. Any suggestions or contacts that I can use? Your assistance will be much appreciated. Thank you
  24. Group Rides for MTB every Saturday at 08:00 from RandMark Cycling Club Group Rides for Road Cycling every Saturday and Sunday at 08:00 from RandMark Cycling Club Secure parking at Club Summer training times changes to 07:00 Saturdays and Sunday. Everyone welcome
  25. Looking for ladies that can join me for late afternoon rides during the week (16:30) in the Moot area Pretoria. It's been a while since I did long distances on my bike and I want to get in shape for some serious cycling on weekends. As being a woman myself (obviously) I don't find it comfortable cycling alone or with strange men as I am happily married. I don't want to join a club in my area as they don't do a lot of week rides, when they ride it's a 50km ride (I am not ready for it mentally or physically) and I have my own schedule on weekends that include Buffelsdrift, Hazeldean Valley, Wolwespruit and Rosemary Hill, which you are welcome to join (its the easy tracks though- for now). In the times we live in, I would like to first have a meet and greet in a public place, we can discuss routes, daily meeting point and meeting someone beforehand takes the awkwardness away from first rides. You can whats app me if interested, would be amazing if this can evolve into a ladies group and friendship. 0712382442 Cycling Regards, Annika
