  1. I've just moved to Westbeach & looking for a morning group ride to Melkbos (or Koeberg) & back. This ride would be week days on a MTB. My pace the is about 25km/h, depending on wind. Weekends would be in different, Tygerberg trails. Time would be around 6am. Summer mornings are perfect!
  2. Hi All Please note we will be riding this weekend on Sunday from Ground. Meeting at 6:45 for 7:00 departure. Distance around 30km Spped from 20 to25 in various groups. Let me know if you would like more information
  3. I remain surprised at the low frequency of events listed on Bikehub and believe more shouldbe done to attract event organizers to get involved. Looking at some other event pages the listings here seems too low. For such a popular website amongst us bikers this surely should receive more focus?
  4. Hi All SSC will be having x2 group rides this Saturday. All welcome to join. Please visit our website for details: http://ssccapetown.co.za/events/
  5. Quick Background Since the age of 6 I have always been on my bike, mostly MTB. I recently acquired my first Road bike for use in Triathlons/Duathlons (The MTB with slicks worked fine, but I quickly realised I am at a definite disadvantage) So..., I have been out for a couple of rides on the road but I realise you are much more vulnerable, because on a MTB you could easily take evasive action to the gravel if things get hairy, no such luxury on a road bike. I assume some of the group rides on weekends have support vehicles that tend to keep things relatively safe. My main requirement is to be as safe as possible on the road, have a wife and 5-month old at home that I need to keep in mind. Cradle is obviously the safest setup in GP, but I commute 100km every day of the week, don't really want to do it over weekends as well if I can avoid it. Main point I am looking to join a group ride in PTA East over weekends. I will definitely look to join a club in future, but have no idea where to start looking. We live in Erasmuskloof, so finding a group that starts close to home would be ideal, but it is not really make or break to be around the corner. Question: Are there group rides in Pta East where I can just pitch without being an actual club member? Where are the starting points located? Which of these would be the safest if you look at their route/support etc? Appreciate any feedback Thanks guys & gals
  6. There is a Constantia Greenbelt Mass happening next week Wednesday at 6pm. All the info is in the Facebook group and will be updated on where it will start from and so on. Not sure if they have already let everyone here know, but thought i would! Pretty rad! https://www.facebook.com/groups/999434460079312/?pnref=story As you may or may not know, the City of Cape Town invites comments from interested and affected parties on the proposal to open certain green belts in the Constantia Valley to off-road cyclists. In terms of Section 17 of the Local Government Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, Council must afford the public and interested parties or groups an opportunity to submit comments to the municipality for 30 days. The comment period takes place from 1 to 30 October 2015. Interested persons are welcome to attend the following public open day where the draft proposal will be available.
