  1. Hi - any groups around Jhb south (orher) wanting to do a chilled coffee catch up ride or inner city braamfontein - heritage / grafitti tour? thanks
  2. So, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm in the process of converting my hardtail from a 2X9 to a 1X11 (SRAM NX) set-up. This is the first time that I'm really doing my own wrenching, so there have been a few small snags along the way. The latest of which is a bent derailieur hanger. I've ordered a new one, but it won't arrive before the weekend. So, the question is whether I can remove the RD and shifter, shorten the chain and "convert" the bike to a SS just for the weekend using the current 11spd cassette. It's obviously not ideal, but just to be able to get some riding in over the weekend.
  3. Hey guys so i spent a bit of time and worked out a few bits with a formula and here is the result. its basically an idea of how far you would travel on one full rotation of your cranks using different gear setups and how to find that sweet spot between the 3 diff tyre sizes if you own more than one fixie. Might be a bit helpful or not
  4. What feels like an eternity is finally coming to a close: My Momsen STR29 Single speed is ready to ride in all it's Gulf Oil racing colors glory. Looking back at all the installments and browsing through the pictures I've taken along the way it's hard to believe where it all started and where we are now. Click here to view the article

  6. So I rencently had a SS bike built up for commuting (and doing this year's 94.7 Cycle Challenge). It's +/-1980's Sancini Cinelli road frame, sprayed matt black with a matt clear coat. We used black components as far as possible and silver where we had trouble finding black. SR Suntour SS Chainset with Integrated Chain Guard and black rims with silver spokes. I wanted bullhorn bars, but we had trouble finding ones that fit the stem, so we ended up flipping and chopping off drops. 42T-18TThanks to Glen Abraham (Bikes & Bicycles) for sourcing all the components and building the bike to my specifications! I can really recommend him.I love technology and gadgets and find projects such as Revolights (http://revolights.com) and Project Aura (http://aurabicycles.com) really cool. Unfortunately they are also very expensive. So I set out to build my own wheel lights using a couple of red and white LEDs. I think it turned out pretty awesome for a first prototype.Posted some pics on Google+ https://plus.google....sts/UyKGLWbuq7A
