  1. Hi there - quite new to the addictive MTB sport and looking at a decent entry level bike for around 5-6k. I have seen some decent well specced Titan Sports, Giant Revels and Axis A60's, but having difficulty on choosing. Is there a sort of ranking sheet i can refer to, lol? I am about 1.74m , weighing around 90kgs and looking for something smooth, strong and fast. I dont intend becoming an avid trail rider, but possibly looking at the light trails now and then. will propably do more Beach, recreational pavement riding. in addition, what do you reckon is my frame size? i would think medium based on the chart sizing guides. What are your thoughts?
  2. Which is the better choice? The Axis A70 2014 model or the Axis A70 2015 model? I know the 2014 model is a 27-speed vs. the 2015 model which is only a 24-speed. Please help, as this is quite an urgent purchase. Kind regards Jaco
  3. Gooday All, I am still looking at getting a mountain bike for this year. My budget is still very limited and capped at 5k. I cannot extend it at all. There is no use in looking in the classifieds as I need an XL frame and they are rarer then hens teeth, so no luck there. I will be using the bike for weight loss and exercise, going on very basic trails around BRB and the like. (think more 'around the block jog' than '100m extreme dash') I found the best value for money bike for this use would be the Axis A70 for R4.5k brand new (2016 model). The fact that they are controlled and owned by Scott bikes I would think that it is a very capable and better quality budget bike. My biggest surprise is that in this price range, you generally find mechanical disks. This bike has hydraulic disks, and it has a lockout fork! (albeit coil). http://www.axis-bikes.com/bikes/path-and-trail-series/a70 Any thoughts and/or experiences you care to share? Regards.
  4. Hi guys. I am posed with a bit of a problem. I am looking at buying a entry level MTB. The plan is to ride once during the week and then over the weekends. Then doing at least one fun ride (about 10km) every 2 months. I am about 1.7 tall. (Read short). I have been looking at the Axis A60 (26'') hydraulic disc brakes or the Trek Marlin (29'') with mechanical disc brakes. The issue now is... do i go for a 26'' with better specs or for a 29'' and maybe look to upgrade components later. Alternatively the secondhand market is a entirely different prospect, but it does come down to the same question 29'' / 650b small frame (not too common for a good price) or a 26'' with reasonable specs (because everyone seems to be selling them to upgrade to 29'')? Please help?
