  1. Having a hard time finding spares for tekra lyra disk brakes (DBP/56 Tektro Lyra Brake Pads) - recommendations?
  2. Good afternoon Hubbers! Anyone ever attempt to replace the Boa dials on their cycling shoes? If so, are there local stockists of the replacement kits?
  3. Looking for outsole lugs for a Specialized MTB shoe 2016 model as per pic attached. Size EUR 43. Freewheel cycology don't have my size because they apparently not making them anymore. Olympic cycles I suspect called them and simply cannot assist. It looks like I have to call on the hubbers for #assistance.
  4. Hey guys After my ride two days ago I noticed the quick release on my front wheel's thru axle was loose. The axle was still sitting tight in the fork. (Rockshox SID fork, 15mm thru axle). Went for another ride yesterday and afterwards noticed I had lost the cam lever completely. (My own fault for not having dealt with the problem before- I admit) Maybe someone can explain how the quick release mechanism within the axle became loose? Then to my actual qustion, any one know where I can source a replacement part or another axle that can be used instead? As RockShox have none of these in stock and will have to wait a month Thanks!
  5. Hey Guys, My bike is about 5 months old now, and did the conversion to tubeless the same day i purchased it. I have the Chaoyand Hornet tyres fitted with this tubeless conversion. I got my 1st thorn that i took out, with the hope that the sealant will seal it as it should. To my surprise that was not the case, the sealant just seeped out, so i spun the tyre, rode with bike, and it just didn't want to seal. Now I'm not sure, must the sealant be replaced or was it just not the proper sealant put in, to begin with? In the 5 month of owning the bike, its done about 1500km's of all weather, all terrain, mainly road though. Your advice would appreciated.
  6. Hi All Hoping to get some advice for future maintenance on my newly acquired 2007 Spez Tarmac. (Pic attached) The bike came with Dura-Ace Groupset all around, however only in 9 speed. Personally I am happy with the gearing range of the drivetrain, so no plans to go 10 or 11 speed any time soon if I can help it. My issue comes as I am trying to get a feel of the availability of replacement parts for a 9 speed drivetrain. It seems the online stores don't keep allot of 9 speed components in stock. Correct me where I might be wrong, this is how I see my options for the various parts currently. Chainrings: It is not too fussed about whether you run a 9 or 10 speed chain and cassette - Thus I can buy a 10 speed Chainring if either one of my current chainrings gives in, but that should last a while if I maintain and change the chain regularly. Chain: It needs to be same "speed" as the Casette - 9 and 10 speed chains are still fairly available, so replace regularly Rear derailer: Should be 9 or 10 speed compatible, operation dictated by whether the Shifter is 9 or 10 speed. - No need to replace this as it is compatible either way, should last for a very long time Bottom Bracket: I have no idea what the available/compatibility of this is. Brakepads: Sounds like a fairly inexpensive part, so replacements should be fine for a long time to come So from my deduction my problem child sits with the Casette Cassette: Seems to be less stock holding of these 9 speed casettes. The only real replacement option I found at this stage seems to be an Ultegra Casette on ChainReactionCycles. I am willing to go down to 105 levels, but they seem fairly rare - Option 1: Keep replacing cassettes with 9 speed Ultegra as and when needed until totally obsolete, then move over to 10 speed, which would require a change of at least the righthand Shifter to 10 speed. Aesthetically would have to replace left hand shifter as well. Option 2: Worthwhile then to stock up on 3 or 4 sets of the 9 speed Ultegra casettes while they are in stock? Don't be too hard on the Noob, I've been riding my 2006 Aluminium 26"Merida Hardtail MTB for the last 10 years, so I have no experience in this new venture of road bike equipment. (Starting up in Triathlons, thus the new acquisition. MTB will still be ridden for fun, in case there were some concerns)
  7. I need to replace the lenses in my Evil eye sunnies A127 ... anyone know where I can get these? Frames are in great order - lenses obviously not at all ...
  8. Hi Guys, I have Clarks CMD-11 breaking system and the rear pad needs to be replaced. I stay in Stellenbosch. Any idea where I can get a set close to me and what the ball park figure for them would be. Also are the pads quite easy to replace? Thanks in advance http://www.clarkscycles.com/index.php/html/product/pagetype/aftermarket/id/cmd-11-mechanical-disc-brake
  9. I bought a Giant Anthem Advanced X 29er last year from my local bike shop (2013 model). Last weekend I bent the front wheel and according to the local wheel building specialist the rim should be replaced... no problem there. This Anthem uses the Giant P-XCR1 wheel set. The problem is that the local suppliers has no stock of this rim, or a replacement wheel for that matter. To make matters worse they can not commit to this rim being in stock in South Africa in the next 3 months. How can the parts availability be so bad for a company as big as Giant? So my options are: a) wait three month (with no satisfaction guarrantee) b) Fit something like a DT Swiss rim and run unmatched wheels (even if is just the decals) c) purchase a complete replacement aftermarket wheelset. Either way Giant owner's beware since OEM replacement parts for your bikes might not be available.
