I wanna take my two Hardtails out for some gentle relaxed riding.

 

My Wife and i will be doing the pedalling.

 

My 1.5 yr old son will be sitting in the baby chair on the back of my bike.

 

So please dont suggest some hardcore DH stuff.

 

Has anyone been to this place in the south? Whats it all about?

If it is the Reitvlei I know in the south then not such an easy ride, there is some tough single track there, the beginners loop might be okay but it is only 4 or 5km

Have done the last 2 24 hours there. Most of that course is not suited to having a dead weight on the back of your bike, so you will probably just have a short loop as stated above. I think Groenkloof would be a better bet for some relaxed jeep trail type stuff.

I often see child seats on bikes here (complete with young children in them!).

Groenkloof would be nice but stick to the dirt roads and not the single tracks I would say if you have a kid on the back. If it was just you and your Wife the single tracks would be fine but I would be a bit worried doing them with your littli on the back .

 

The dirt road tracks are nice and the last time I went to groenies I did half of my riding on them and still had a lot of fun!
