Any decent LBS should have them. I bought 2 at R90 each on Tuesday.

Where from?

I spoke to Omnico and the guy didn't sound very clued up, he said he had and I must just go to an LBS and order them. When the Cajees called he suddenly only had a complete headset for R1500.00

Cyclelab looked like they had no clue and were not really interested in ordering

Westdene sounded like they had no clue but said they can probably match something

My LBS of choice also sounded like they don't have too much experience with headset bearings

I got mine from Mark at Cape Town Cycles. I am going to have a look for your specific bearings on the net and get hold of mark. If he has (which I am positive he does), I will get them and send them up to you!

Am I right? This is what you are looking for? Just the sealed bearings.

Thanks for the offer. I was driving past Fritz Pienar Cycles so stopped past there, they had the bearings so I am sorted

Ok so Chris is sorted. I have a carbon steerer on my bike and took it back to LBS for inspection, but it keeps on making that cracking noise if a stand an pedal, please help

New bearings fitted. I think I have the preload right. If I grab the spacers under the stem I can just rotate them on the steerer but I have to twist quite hard. Also, if I turn the handlebars with no front wheel in the cables move the handlebar to where they want it to sit, it doesn't stick. When the front wheel is back in I can check for play but I don't think there will be any.

Sorry for the hijack, but I also need advice.

My first attempt at servicing my headset on my mtb and I have a problem. After removing the stem bolts, top adjusting screw & cap the handle bars and spacers came off fine, but the fork just won't come down even after persuasion with a mallet. Should I whack it even harder, or is there some trick to this?
