I love the power of nature and floods etc get me excited like a little boy. So on my way home on Friday, I stopped of next to the little stream that flows below our house to see what impact the cloudburst had had. This is the stream that flows through the Randpark gold course and is usually small enough that you can usually find a spot where you can jump over it with a little run up.

WOW! I must have arrived after the MAIN flood had passed because you could see that the water had been even higher earlier on. So the photos below were taken around 6ish on Friday afternoon.

Then I thought I would go by on Saturday to see how much the water had receded. This was taken around 1pm on Saturday. This is the same tree you see sticking out the water in the first photo. The roots must stand about 2.5m above the riverbed to give an idea of the scale!

Then we had another cloudburst on Saturday afternoon. Sadly I was not able to get down to the river immediately so only arrived a bit later when the water had gone down a lot but still - pretty impressive:

Amazing how the urbanisation has created this situation where all the water basically is channelled into 1 furrow and then forms these hectic torrents.

Oh and I got my double cab stuck trying to turn around! Managed to get my front wheels over a little ridge and my back wheels stuck in a muddy spot! Eish! Lucky I was near home cause I had to go get a spade to dig my car out!
