Hi all

I have a Cannondale caad 9 frame with a BB30 bottom bracket, I can get a FSA BB30 crank that comes off a Merida Reacto ...the Merida has press fit bb cups and I think the 'Dale takes threaded bb cups...blink.gif

The question is , can this crank work on the "Dale frame with threaded bb cups?

Advice will be appreciated..

Thank-you all..smile.gif

Here's what I know: BB30 is Press Fit bearings inside the frame, and takes a 30mm crank spindle. The threaded system has a smaller cavity with threads inside the frame, either 'English' or 'Italian' threads, that takes a 24mm spindle (something like that)

You do get an adapter to fit older non-BB30 cranks into a BB30 Frame: 'BB30 Press Fit' Adapter that the cups or other BB systems can screw into. But not vice versa, if you have a frame with threaded BB there is no way it can take BB30.

But you have a BB30 frame, the cranks are BB30, so you should be sorted. No need for screwing around.

It that helps.

Here's a utoob with some background:

Ok , so that is why I am so confussedrolleyes.gif..the frame I bought has dura ace BB cups fitted..the previous owner said that a 'converter ' was fitted to take the dura ace crank...so it is a simple matter of removing the 'converter 'and fitting the press fit BB ?

Quite possibly - if something like this Raceface BB30 converter has been fitted.
