Frodo burnett Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Hi all a warning to all MTB riders in teh IRENE area, we were a group of 6 riders and had an attempted bike Jacking. The area was the Fritz Pienaar single track section by the cement factory in the Irene area. There were 3 guys armed with Panga's. They jumped out the long grass, but when they realised that there was a lot of us, they ran away. DO NOT ride in groups smaller than 5 in the area, there also looked like guys sitting at the top of the koppie as possible spotters.

Klaus Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Think I should fuel up my quad and join a ride in the area. Chase them down like the dogs they are ! Glad you okay and nothing happend - was this reported to the police? I know they probably not going to do anything but at least they may start taking action when similar reportings in the area start coming in.
Santa C Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Irene has had bike jacking issues for a long time...Best is to stay out of that area and ride other areas. Two years ago, more then 6 bikes in a group got jacked there, so just be aware when riding in large groups.
