Suspension set up and rebound

On a Trance 20% sag should do. But only as a guideline. Best would be to pop into your LBS and have your bike setup properly.

Fork: I'd say 25 - 30mm sag. Set rebound to 40% of fastest. If I remember correct that bike comes with a RL fork so you wont have any external rebound settings.

Shock: 12-14mm sag and rebound the same as fork. Pro-pedal on Level 2 setting for a start.

Cool, I didnt get the manual will google recommended weight vs pressure and will try it.

How would I benefit from a slow rebound vs hard rebound?

Thanks for the advice, really appreciate it!

to feel the difference between fast rebound and slow on both shocks set the rebound to full fast and and compress the shock or fork then set to fullslow and compress that is how you will feel the biggest differnce then you can set rebound, if rebound is to slow the shock doesnt absorb the bump quick enough and if its too fast it wont dampen the ride enough

to get a feel of how the shock works ride a bumpy section and afterwards feel the heat build up

bottom line once your sag is set all the other adjustments come down to personal choice

Set rebound too quick and fork can become pogo-stick-like with consequent loss of wheel to earth contact and hence control.

Set it too slow and shock will not have enough time to extend before next hit, leaving it in compressed state and removing ability of shock to absorb bumps, with resultant loss of control as shock becomes "rigid" in compressed state.

I think that correct rebound settings can be more important to get right than air pressure (assuming pressure is in ballpark in relation to rider weight) as minor adjustments can have a major effect on their ability to keep wheel/s in contact with ground and achieve/retain control. I apply basic principle of getting rebound to be as quick as possible without causing loss of control in the process.
