pauloc Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Had the same problem last night mounting a crossmark onto a WTB rim. Was pulling all kinds of constipated faces but couldn't get the stupid thing on. Eventually I found a cool trick - rest the wheel & tyre on the ground with the bit you need to seat at the top of the wheel. Then pull back on the unseated part of the tyre while gently pushing down on the tyre and rolling it from side to side. Seems to compress the bit that's already seated and give you a bit of play to pull the unseated part over the rim.
davetapson Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Well, after all the heaving, moaning and straining mounting the tyres they turned out to be a pretty awesome combination. Definitely prefer the monorail to the MK on front, and the Crossmark seemed to be plenty grippy enough for the long downhills on Sani, even in muddyish conditions, which surprised me. No punctures, no pressure loss over the whole race. I'll be keeping this combo on for a while methinks.
