'Berto vs Purito again.

Hopefully, Froome Dog can make it count. And retain his 3rd placing.

Otherwise the very competent Valverde will make it an all-Spanish top 3.

This climb should be more to the liking of the guys like 'Berto and maybe Chris, its more constantly steep and its longer, I dont think Rodriguez will be sprinting away here,..........but if he do's, well I think its over for the rest, 'Berto included.

Purito surprised so far on the high mountain climbs and even the TT.

Let's see...

@GOG

At the start of the stage this morning, Chris Froome told the Vuelta's official website: "I like the atmosphere of La Vuelta a España more than the Tour de France. I like the Spanish culture and the attitude of the people. Spectators have many Spanish riders to encourage and they also encourage me. That helps me to keep my motivation high even though I'm a little tired."

Yes, nice comment from Chris, but then he is, I understand, a nice guy, so thumbs up from me.

.....but another great stage today, I actually got quite excited to see Piedra take the win, Caja Rural have been very aggressive this tour and it finally paid off.

It seems the top three spots will be filled by the three Spaniards this year which must be a record of sorts, I dont know for sure, just guessing, but I cant remember anything similar before?

'Berto was very aggressive again today, he just attacks and attacks and attacks, stunning viewing but Rodriguez is looking more and more like he knows he can come across on his own when 'Berto opens a gap, he is also playing the game very carefully and not doing too much which is very clever, he still only has 22 sec's on 'Berto so I dont think he can rest just yet, but right now he is certainly the one in charge.

Purito just keeps his cool when 'Berto stomps like a bull up the climbs.

The sign of a champion.

He can afford to go on the defensive now.

It's his to lose, this Red Jersey.

Not lekka to see Froome Dog overcooked like that.

Reports say that he says he'll keep on doing his best.

Too many high intensity miles in his legs, it would seem!

Next year he will do the Giro and the Vuelta, and will probably skip the Tour, so he will be in top condition

(as Rodriguez is now - and was at the Giro)

Hmmm... It is a 'what if' statement.

And I do wonder whether Valverde would have seriously contested Rodriquez for top spot IF he did not crash?

Aargh, that's racing for ya...

Today, before REST DAY...

This should settle the podium, most likely.

I"m terribily sad NOT to see Contador in Red... :-(

Hats off to Rodriguez. He deserves it. To sustain all that attacks by Contador, he kept cool and rode himself back.

Awesome Tour, alot more exciting to watch than TDF '12.

'Berto is giving it his all.

It seems it is Rodriquez's turn for the top step.

But, let's see... there's still a week of racing to go. Anything can happen.

Berto will take the lead today no doubt.

Was amazing yesterday so to was purito.

Yeah, Rodriguez is in the form of his life I think. Today is another climb which "should" suit 'Berto rather than Purito, but the way Rodriguez is riding...........who can say. :)

The penultimate day also has some serious climbing, actually its been called the Queen stage, so even if Rodriguez holds on today, he will still need to defend on the penultimate day when he may be a bit more fatigued.

.......but what a race so far, whoever wins its been a spectacle of note.
