With carbon it is possible. Last years Raleighs and Karbonias are the same.
I heard that they have a different grade of carbon though with the Karbonas being stronger.

There is only one type of carbon used, but in different weaves. All carbon bikes in the world come from only 4 carbon sources : Toray (Boeing supplier), Mitsubishi, Formosa and Toho (Airbus supplier). All carbon bicycle frame manufacturers who make frames for bicycle brands buy from these 4 suppliers. There is zero difference in quality, but different weaves result in different weights.
