but if you buy overseas and there's an issue...

... then you apparently pay R400 to Garmin SA, and they fix it

Have to say that I've not had any issues with my second hand FR405, and imported Edge 800 :)

The fr405 comes with the usb ant+ stick right?

i had some runs on my FR60 that were just stop/starts and i accidently put them onto the stick, whenever i import into training center i get the 0m runs...

do you know how to delete of the USB stick?

or clear it completely?

The 'stick' does not store data on it, however the ANT agent (software) caches it on the computer somewhere...(Have no idea where though) But you should be able to delete the activity from the program / website you've imported in to... The device should also be an option to delete history (all / recent) from the device itself.

I have both the 800 and 705 but i prefer the 705, the only thing i dont like on the 705 is the calorie calc but thats no biggie for me.

My dad has a 705 and was trying to work out power by calories consumed and a whole lot of other things.

His garmin gave the completely incorrect calories and it ended up with him putting out 650watts for 45mins. :o :o

Well the Touch screen option is just simply unethical f you're riding through mud and grime and then have to use it on the screen.

Don't you think that makes it more road orientated?

The 500 is a smaller model and the of Garmin-Cervelo use them so yup, if a pro team uses them with the other options then they surely have good reasons. They used them for the previous 2 years as well.

The 705 is a bulkier unit with more padding, making it safer and, in my opinion, better suited to an mtb.

I chose the 500 because it is smaller and weighs less.

But that's just me.

I also understand that the 705 is older and doesn't have the same software as the new 500 and 800's.

I find the 800 better in mud as it doesn't have the joystick and buttons that gunk. The touchscreen is a real plus for off-road..
