Bearings : How much difference

so I was thinking about what a difference certain bearings made in aggressive skates.

 

If I replace my mtb and road wheels' bearings with the best out there, will it go faster?

Inline skate wheels rotate very fast, bearings make a difference, Bicycle wheels do not rotate fast at all.

Have too agree with obree.

 

The comparison in rolling resistance/weight/cost just dont add up for me and its largely due to the lower rotating speed.

 

At that low RPM there isnt mush diff if any - other than price.

 

Ceramic will last longer but at R 50.00 a bearing I dont mind replacing them.

 

Like Powerbalace bands, if it works for you, go for it!

thanks guys, have to replace my bearings on my mavic SLR's for the third time in 2 years...getting a bit much. think I will sommer source the bearings from BEARINGMAN

Changing to fancy ceramic bearings on a Campag crank saves about 0.3W at 100rpm.

By extension, changing to similar ceramic bearings on a wheel will save about 0.9W at 40km/h (on a road bike).
