  1. Hi All I have been waxing chains for many years now, I recently brought back some wax and lube from the US Wax R800.00 500gr Lube R500.00 (240ml) I also have 1 Chain waxing system, 220volt Collect in Boksburg or courier for your cost Michael
  2. I have Infocranks on my Road bike, Track bike and my indoor trainer bike, all have worked without problem for over 3 years now, and probably cost less that 1 Dura ace PM.
  3. Got 2 wired SRM's sitting in my drawer. Changed the batteries a few times, got them from the UK. BUT since I got InfoCrank, changing batteries cost about R100.00 I now have one on my Indoor bike, track bike and road bike, all for less than 1 SRM
  4. Its about looking at your racing files and seeing what the torque value was at critical sections. then matching that torque in training. Of course if you have an InfoCrank, like me, you can see the torque value on the phone app whilst riding, obviously on the IDT. For example when I ride a pursuit on the track, I can see from my race file my torque value as being 40nM, at 115rpm. So I emulate that value on my indoor trainer, but riding with different cadence values, ie 60/80/90/100/110 etc This allows for more precise training stimulus as I am focusing directly on that particular torque value, but with different heart rates. higher the cadence the higher the heart rate. if you are able to go on the road and ride at exactly the same cadence and power output as the critical race section mentioned above then just do that. Only problem is then you only see after downloading the file where the values are, whereas with the InfoCrank and App you see in real time. This is based on my own personal views and experience
  5. some nice looking intervals there !!! glad I'm not the only person that realizes torque is the key not power
  6. I was there on the day, and I think the power is a Strava best guess. Gert will have to average over 350w to maintain that speed. Anyone that knows anything about power will agree. The only way you can average 250W for that speed is to be 5 foot tall weigh 60kg, and be super aero, of which Gert is neither. Gert is just plain a monster on the bike. He was riding at my pursuit speed for some of the ride. An effort I manage once and need 2 days to recover from.
  7. Hi David Works perfectly on my side,. except the speed is showing incorrectly. shows my max as 15. Have set the units to metric. I do from time to time go above 15...... but not very often
  8. Just some useless information.... Nike never made the shoes themselves, DMT make Cavendish's shoes and put Nike branding on them
  9. Ordered at 11h45, delivered at a 12h15. Awesome service!! Will try tomorrow am.
  10. Ordered at 11h45, delivered at a 12h15. Awesome service!! Will try tomorrow am.
  11. Here's my black beauty
  12. Valverde is such a wheelsucker!!! does nothing but look behind for someone to help him. Can suck a wheel like a pro, but will always sprints past at the line!!!
  13. Yeah the windy days are the best, put them in the gutter when there's a side wind, and watch the weak ones pop out the back!!! A few weeks ago, had a strong wind from the left, I knew there was a right turn up ahead, went to the front and Steeked it for about 1km, looked back and there was about 6 out of +-50 left!!!
  14. as per VN today, http://velonews.competitor.com/2014/08/news/bike-weight-myth-fast-bikes_339880
  15. If you wanna ride like Froomey, you gotta look like Froomey. If you just a fun rider, by all means get more muscle on the upper body, cos then we wont have to worry about you at the front on the climbs......
  16. Try find details of Duncan MacIntire(sic) I think he stay in JHB somewhere. he can bulid, but I dont know if he still does. My concern would be sourcing 24" tyres and rims. Try going to the track, Hector Norris Park and looking through their store room. Plenty of bikes there, you moight get lucky
  17. He is also in CT
  18. Doesn't make sense aerodynamically to have that dropped top tube. The air is flowing horizontally at the front, would work better if the stem top tube were parallel to the ground. Having it tilt up like that just exposes more area to the wind... Just my 2c.....
  19. depends on the model, some have 2 batteries, some have a square battery and the older ones have a round battery. change mine myself, got original batteries from the UK, opened the unit, change takes about 10min if you have no clus what you ae doing. recalebrate and away you go. DIY cost R120.00 AW cost +-R1500.00 depends on whether they send just your SRM back or a whole lot as the courier costs will differ. I have changed both head unit and crank batteries. My units are all the older SRM V wired units.
  20. Its not about the bike.....
  21. It show the power of the mind, bigger legs = faster cycling
  22. SV, the more people in the gym getting bigger legs, the less we have to worry about out on the road....
  23. SV as you well know when looking for the best advise "thehub" is the place to go to...
  24. Unless you have a serious strength issue, doinbg squats will do very very little for your cycling. All you get is bigger muscles = more weight to carry up the hills and maybe you will look good on the beach. If you are a track sprinter or 500m 1000m timetrial rider, then doing leg work helps, for road riding you will get better results by cycling an extra 30 min per day. If you can squat down till your knees are at 90 deg, then you have enough strenght to cycle. Its not the leg strength that is holding you back, its fitness and adaptation.
