I wanna get into racing next year with the aim of doing WP and SA champs possibly, not saying what age group. What is the best option when renewing memberships? PPA has the league racing and you get a CSA membership included but according to CSA you need a full racing licence to compete in Province and SA Champs, a day licence is not enough. CSA licence is R350 excluding R75 for membership. PPA has the racing leagues if I'm correct and sure you can race in them without a PPA membership but to use them just as training without getting league points is fruitless and you can improve your seeding by being part of PPA. Do I just get the racing licence for the sake of maybe doing Champs and waste my R350 or do I get PPA and benefit from seeding and leagues and then still pay CSA licence with the hope of doing Champs. Any advice would be appreciated please.

Thanks

You can not ride in the PPA league if you are not a PPA member. You must also have a qualifying PPA seeding before you can enter the League. Used to be that you needed a seeding of A-C for Elite, A-D for Sub Vet and so on, havent checked lately.

If you are not going to be doing SA's for sure, dont bother with a License. Last communication from WPCA was that you do not need a license to participate in Western Province Champs, only CSA membership, which you will have automatically as a PPA member.

To put in other words, if you consider racing in WP, you have no other choice ... join PPA.
